My kid is having surgery today

My 2 year old boy was born with a complete cleft lip/palate. He's had a few surgeries but today is gonna be another big one. They are going to completely redo his palate and its going be a long couple of weeks.

Could use your prayers for him and my wife. Its a rather painful area to have cut into and stitched back together and it takes a lot out of my wife as well.

GL for all in your family. Having a kiddo go into to surgery is very hard for the parents but all will workout and the it will be more painful for you and the wife then the kid.

That's exactly what we found, especially with my wife. She stresses about a month in advance on every one. The only exception was the last "big one". PVH really dropped the ball and didn't have any pain medication ready for him when he woke up, and since it was a new drug regiment they were trying, nobody new what the dosage was supposed to be. So for a 1/2 hour he was awake with no pain medication and it was not a pretty site. Not to mention the last "hack" doctor we had....

My son came out and 72 hours later went through 13 hours of surgery. 38 surgeries later, I have a wonderful son (now teenager). They did good work back then and have only gotten better. Stay strong, its not easy when its your own. He needs you there.

Thank you guys for all the good words. Surgery went better then expected. Doc had to redo the palate but he was able to stretch it back quite a bit which is a REAL good thing since it will help him with his speech. He woke up a HELL of a lot better than last time. Right now he's sawing logs and all is well.

About 2 to 3 weeks of liquid diet and arm restraints. Imagine the roof of your mouth being disected and stiched back together...yeah it sucks.

Quick update. He's been in a lot of pain and the cant give him any more morphine. He's still notdrinking anything so I wont be surprised if we are stuck here till Mon.
