View Full Version : Magpul Magazines - Cinch?

I've read on other forums that most of the "standard" mag cinches don't fit the shape of Magpul's magazines. Is this true? If so... is there some model of cinch available that works on Magpul mags?

Some of the plastic couplers will work if you dremel the corners of the cinch.

I have not tried it but saw pics of one.

But, the real deal for Pmag couplers is the Firebird coupler...designed (and built?) in NM. One of the hot tickets in AR 3gun circles.

Can order from Springer Precision at http://shop.springerprecision.com/product.sc;jsessionid=DB818532C496704FC101050076EA 40CB.qscstrfrnt01?categoryId=1&productId=97

"This coupler is designed by shooters for shooter and joins and joins a 20 and a 30 round PMags by removing their base plate and inserting the magazine into our coupler. This coupler is made from high quality aluminum and hard anodized to provide an ultra durable platform to support 60 rounds of .223 ammunition. We designed this to be everything we wanted in a coupler. Easy to remove and clean, easy to grab as the contours make it feel like grabbing a single magazine, the proper clearance for your controls, and ULTRA durable. The unique (patent pending) design also allow several options for easily stowing mags in your packets or belt. Whether is is for duty use, competition, or recreation the Firebird is the solution for that extra firepower at your fingertips."

Commercial aside: The link above is for joining a 20 round & 30 round Pmag. They have a 30 & 30 that I bought a couple of weeks ago. Very simple design that works great. A big pricey compared to other $15 cinches but they work great. I currently have two 30 Pmags coupled but may use it with two 47+-rounders for close to a Beta mag w/o the worries (albeit paying the time penalty to switch from one to another).
And, once you handle one of these couplers, you'll want Jim's upper and lower. So it could be an expensive order...

Well, I got a Springer Precision 30/30 coupler in and I LOVE it. I might have some material removed to lighten it up a bit, but the quality and construction is tits. I like it better than a redi-mag (lighter, if a bit less flexible usage wise), but it is fairly heavy.

Well worth it IMHO.

I got these Buffer Technologies MagCinch Magazine Coupler at Midway... They seem to work pretty well with the PMAGS - I don't know if i'd trust my life to them.... Also - hope I'll never have to!
