I got my truck stuck this afternoon. I couldn't even dig it out. It's near Colorado Springs. Anybody have a winch or come-a-long or something to help me out? Thanks.

I've got a come-along. Where are you located?

I got a ride home for the night and plan on going back out tomorrow. I slid into a ditch while off roading and couldn't get all four tires on the ground after that.

Is it a legal wheeling area?

josh7328
04-23-2013, 22:25
maybe? I don't know. it was a washed out road in the national forest

OK, anything special needed to get out there? Extra large tires, lockers etc?

I'll be headed that way in the am and I could throw recovery gear in the truck. Unless extra large tires are needed just to get to you.

A general location, good time to meet, and where is the truck?

An extra come-a-long and anchor point may come in handy...

Well it is about 20-30 minutes into the front range past the broadmoor. (Old stage road) It's a 4x4 yukon, so it is somewhat heavy. As long as you have a good 4x4 there should be no problem getting to it, though you will have to back out about 150 yards before you can turn around. Not a lot of space in front of it to pull it out with another vehicle, but there is a hefty tree stump and some decent size live trees about 10 yards or less in front of the truck, so a come along might actually work better than a winch. I can meet around lunch time, but would prefer the afternoon 3pm or later. Be warned though, that i can pay for gas, and some food and drinks, but not much more. I'm pretty broke right now. I might even be better off buying/borrowing a come along and bumming a ride to it unless somebody was just in the mood for some wheelin' anyway. It is pretty out of the way.

I'd be happy to lend my come-along, but I'll be at work from 0600-1500 out @ Schriever.

I tried to take pics but it was already dark outside. It could be pulled straight forward about 15 feet to get it out and i could be good from there. I can actually meet up any time or anywhere you would like. Youre helping me out, so we can do it on your terms. :). I'll PM you my number. Thank you SO MUCH.

Pretty cool of you there burbon for helping him out. If I were closer I'd be happy to lend a hand. Good chance to test out my winch too since I haven't had to use it yet on my Jeep. Good luck getting her out and take some pics of the before, after, and during!

hmmm chief say say it is more of the equipment on the yukon, no lockers, chief say jeep have same problem with same issue unless locker installed

with lockers having a tire in the air or even two is no big deal, tires that are on the ground keep turning

Reminds me of one of the more memorable NJPs I was peripherally involved in. I was in a combat heavy engineer battalion at Fort Lewis in the late 80s. One wet weekend one of the company mechanics got his 4WD stuck in the mud downrange goofing around. Came back to the company, told his squad leader, who grabbed a 5 ton dump truck from the motor pool and went down to haul him out. Got it stuck. Back they went to get a D7 on a lowboy with a semi, hauled it downrange and recovered both vehicles. Might have gotten away with it if the numbnuts had done a better job cleaning of the mud from everything, but the CO came in on Sunday and found dirty vehicles where there shouldn't have been dirty vehicles.

Hope it's still in one piece when you get there. If it was left hand it would be stripped.

Yep, I've moved away from it in favor of buying more guns, but I still love to get out there and fix stuff in awkward locations and positions, I just need.

I demand PICS of this!

And as for pay, the rule of thumb when I was in 1st LAR was if you got unstuck by another vehicle a 6 pack was owed.

Just saying.

You guys were cheap, we were always a 12 pack. If it was really bad them premium beer was required, but you did get to help drink it. So, you had that going for ya!

Speaking of leaving a vehicle in the middle of nowhere, last night my mom told me my dad lost a 4 wheeler the day before in Australia. He went out on the 4 wheeler, came back on foot a few hours later. Had no idea what happened to the 4 wheeler or where it is. My brother has been looking for it ever since.

I'm going down there next week and I bet we'll still be looking for it.

I think my dad has driven his last vehicle.

Sorry, I didn't get any pics. I had a little bit of traction drama right when we got to the truck.

Lockers wouldn't have helped in this case.
The Yukon was sitting ass down in a small wash, with the rear hitch holding the rear wheels off the ground and the front wheels in low traction snow covered mud. A quick yank forward was all it took.

Well, while a lift might have kept his hitch out of the dirt, I meant a highlift jack. Specifically the kind that can also be used as a come-a-long.

LOL. The amount of booze my Bn could drink was truly impressive. We had a BN pig roast and floated 12 kegs in one and a half hours.

LAR is a light BN, only 400-500 guys.

Is an "ass hamburger" kind of like a "shit sandwich"? Curious minds want to know. hahaha

Glad it wasn't a bigger mess than it was, but next time, take pictures! [Beer]
