Great, just what we need.. They release the guy on Monday and we are just told about it today. I'm guessing that he hasn't been flagged in NICS either. At least the Hospital says they maintain a safe campus.. http://www.falfiles.com/forums/rolleyes.gif

LITTLETON, Colo. — Police in Littleton have issued a safety alert while they search for a missing man who has made threats about committing mass shootings.

They say 24-year-old Adam Howard is missing and he has access to deadly weapons.

Officers were called to Littleton Adventist Hospital on April 6 to check on Howard. He was at the facility for suicidal and homicidal thoughts.
Police say he admitted to buying an AR-15 as well as possessing 250 rounds of ammunition. Read the safety alert here.

They say he mentioned he wanted to walk into Littleton Adventist Hospital and “shoot as many people” as he could since the mental health system “failed him.”

Howard also said he wanted to go into a random Target store to “shoot a mass number of people because it’s an easy target.”

He was released from Littleton Adventist on Monday even after his threats. Now police can’t find him.

Littleton Police searched his home and they say they found a fully loaded AR-15 rifle and several loaded magazines. They were given to his grandmother for safekeeping.

Littleton Adventist CEIO Brett Spenst issued a statement late Thursday afternoon:

“When there is an imminent, serious and specific threat, Littleton Adventist Hospital immediately notifies the appropriate authorities including the police department. We have established protocols in place to protect the safety of our patients, visitors and staff. Because of privacy laws, we cannot speak about specific patients or details of treatments. However, we want to assure the entire community that we have taken extensive measures to ensure that our campus is a safe environment.”

Great business decision by the hospital. j/k. Just goes to show the government can not protect you. You must protect yourself.

Not shocked at all.

They found a "fully loaded" AR....damn it. A "slightly loaded" AR would be more comforting.

Obviously, "Missing Men" need to be regulated and registered.

Wow, they gave the weapon to his grandmother for safekeeping? What's she going to do, physically stop her grandson from taking the rifle back?

Well, a firearm is a force equalizer.

Also, Gilpin beat me to the same comment.

Assuming she knows how to use it! Its not as simple as a revolver, if she doesn't know how to operate an AR, its nothing more than a really expensive bat.

How can he make headlines sitting in a hospital?

Bullshit, another posted gun free zone, poorly posted(15' from the front door), but posted none the less. Another corporation who has it's profit margin in mind, not it's customers.

If he hasn't brken a law.. they can;t hold him .. that the way it works.

what I found funny was on 31 people calling for a public notice when this happens... which made me laugh i don't think people know how often this kinda thing happens, and would wet their pants if they did

At the same time we have all the efforts to make people feel 'safe' in their community to thank for our gun restrictions. Most people that are anti-gun that I engage in conversation reverentially let it slip that they simply don't find it necessary unless you live in a 'war zone' or 'unsafe' city. What they don't realize is what happens all around them every day. I usually urge those people to do a few ride-alongs with local LE to see what actually goes down on a daily basis that they never read about in the paper.

Please correct me if I am wrong. I thought law allowed people to be placed on a mental health hold if they threaten their life or the life of other people. If this guy kills somebody Littleton hospital is going to be sued big time.

"We wanted our campus to be safe, so we let him loose on the community."

BRILLIANT!

I would have thought the hospital could hold a person long enough to get some officers there.

But then for the cops to turn a "fully loaded" AR to this guys grandmother, just screams stupid.
