I am starting to get very interested in some precision shooting (not competitively). However I dont have $5000 to spend on a set up right now, I know i can do it cheaper but I tend to not like doing the cheap route. I would like to start going out to 500 yards with my AR, but i'd like an optic that I can take off and throw on a bolt action later.

I was looking at the ACOG, Browe Combat Optic, Vortex Viper PST 2.5-10x44, and the Vortex Viper PST 1-4x24. I really like the Vortex's but I dont know how I feel about putting something not made in `Merika on my AR. You can see my price range from these optics and the Acog, and Browe are pushing my limit on budget.

My goal is to use this on my 16" AR this summer while I build out a 18"-20" SPR/DMR and throw it on top of that. However I may buy a REM 700 before I finish my build so I would like to be able to use it on that.

I know i'm looking for something very versatile in a situation where I should have something unique and dedicated but I figured I'd throw it out there to see what you all think.

Check out the Viper PST 4-16x50. Might be a little more useful for long ranges and on a bolt gun. PS: not very many optic are made in the USA. Japan and the Philippines are were our reasonably priced quality optics come from.

Browe Combat Optic would be a good choice, "facebookfan" coupon code gives you $200 discount

I really liked the browe but all the reviews and say it needs to be basically inside of your eyeball. The eye relief is only like 34mm or something like that.
