Where would be the best gun store in the area? Some place that sells new and used guns would be great.

I like Green Mtn Guns alot. (285-Wads) They have really good prices. Firing line is good also, not sure on prices.

I second Firing Line. I have known about them for almost 10 years, but never dealt with them until a few weeks ago. I bought some stripped lowers and they had a little flexibility with the pricing. Prices seemed reasonable. I looked around while waiting for the BG check to go through. Saw a new Glock 23 for $450 ish (cant remember exactly), but it was real close to the prices from Top Glock site, with no shipping or FFL fees.

Everyone in there seemed nice enought also. Overall a positive experience. I am thinking about going back and picking up that G23!

If you count Loveland, Jensen's 100%

Otherwise i like 5280 Armory in Arvada.

Jensens for sure. And as of late, whoever has what you want in stock.

5280 armory is a very well supplied shop. Their prices are HIGH ON ALL AR's and uppers. The owner is alittle bit of an asshole.( another story) His prices are over 100 dollars more on all ar-15's. Prices went up after last weeks gun show. Ar-15 acessories are higher then gun show prices. (pmags $20.00 I paid $15.00 at tanner last sat.
As I said, they are well supplied but high.
Sixgun.
Jenson's is well worth the drive.

I second the price issue's with 5280. I like supporting the local guy the best I can, but sheesh. I won't do it at that kind of loss. He is even higher than sportsmans whorehouse on wolf ammo. and not by a little. I might have to go to Jensens. Haven't been there before.

Jensen's was a zoo today. Their inventory of EBRs was pretty thin. I got the last Standard M1A aside from the display.

They seem bothered by the rush and by the cause of it. They're overwhelmed with business because of the election of somebody that's going to do everything possible to put them out of business. They were very disorganized and I believe that added to the employee's stress level. They wouldn't try to let people know when their CBI check had come back so that they could pay and get out of the store. I went around the corner to the Ace hardware store and bought a Walther P22 45 minutes after doing the paperwork at Jensen's. The folks at Ace took my phone number and told me they would call when the paperwork had cleared.

I got the call from Ace while I was waiting in Jensen's. I picked up the pistol at Ace and then came back to Jensen's. All the folks at Jensen's would tell me is that the backlog at CBI was over 500. I kept telling them that's now, but I did the paperwork this morning. I had to explain that I had bought a pistol at another store 45 minutes after doing paperwork there and I had already picked it up. Again, they told me that the queue was over 500 people. I explained that both stores are using the same CBI system. They finally checked and my paperwork had cleared and I was ready after all.[NoClue]

I don't know how they are on a usual day, but the first experience wasn't, let's say, optimal.;)

Orchards Ace Hardware in Loveland has quite the selection of firearms. They had an M1A and their price was only about $50 higher than Jensen's. They had sold out of ARs but did have a SIG 556. They had a really nice selection of shotguns and rifles as well. They had handguns that were new and used. They even had one of the Springfield 9mm XD-M pistols that just came out.

Here, found a link;

There are VERY few hardware stores with gun departments remaining, but we are one because we love 'em. We generally stock around 600 rifles, shotguns, and handguns and are always BUYING, SELLING, and TRADING.

Check out our full inventory now by visiting our online Gun Shop (http://www.orchardshardware.com/gun-shop)
I doubt their "full inventory" is on the website. I thought I saw more than what was listed, including a couple of RIA and SIG 1911s, but a lot of it is there.

I found out about the hardware store when I was chatting with one of the locals who had commented about my M1A and that he had a couple and was making an ammo recommendation. He was telling his friends that they were going to head over to the hardware store. I made the comment that I thought Jensen's was the hardware store. He told me, "Oh, they also sell guns over at the hardware store." I just had to check that out while my CBI paperwork was processing. If the local Ace had a gun counter like that one, I'd never have any money. ;)

I was hoping that it was like this example from the movie Predator;

Thanks for all the imput here. I went to the Firing line today and stood in front of the counter for 30 minutes before I decided to walk out. No-one offerd any help at all. They had a decent selection there, but was overpriced.

Going to try Jensens next.

Good luck. Even when you're nice and trying to be patient and positive, there was lots of negativity coming from the other side of the counter.

5280 - Over priced on a lot of stuff. The last time I was there I had to listen to a person behind the counter talk about the great "knock down power" of the .45ACP. Nothing peeves me more than someone talking about something they know nothing about.

Green Mountain - I really like to go there and look at the used items forsale.

Sportsman Warehouse down the street from Green Mountain- I have always gotten excellent service from everyone behind the counter.

Jensens - Sadly, I have never been. Too bad there isn't a Jensens type shop near Denver.

Gun Shows - Mostly a waste of time IMHO but I am your basic AR15/Glock shooter. Although I will say that machineguntours is the exception.

Thanks for the props:) We just got in a ton of stuff for the gunshow this weekend. I think we will have at least 40 complete Ar's for sale, AK Receivers, FN2000's, PS90 and ton of other stuff including some deals on trade in glock 22. Thanks again for the positive comment:)

My experience with 5280 has been the opposite of the others, 5280 armory was over $100 cheaper than the firing line on the msar stg556 (same price as jensens). They also had a colt 6920 for the same price as jensens as well. The biggest difference is that they actually had the guns in stock (unlike Jensens).

I bought a few guns Jensens and everytime the lady who mans the cash register has *always* been bitching about something, especially when its busy. To me is the most anyoing thing for me, don't complain about how busy you are when I am trying to give you money.

Firingline when I called last weekend to see if they had what I wanted in stock and the price I was kindly told that they were too busy to go over their inventory with me over the phone (after I asked what brands of ar15 they carried and had in stock). Both 5280 and Jensens, however able to give me a run down of what they had in stock and how much it cost.
