I'm stubborn about breaking the mold at times. So for the tavor I was planning the 18 inch barrel. After all not like I clear buildings. But then again id likely go suppresor route on this so shaving space would be good.

Looking for input, does 18 really help me out much or really doesn't matter unless I'm ding like a 20\22 inch trying for a bench rest type of deal?

Unrelated question but didn't want to do a new post. Using a .308 suppressor on .223. How badly is performance reduced? If I ever get .308 ar or scar, would be nice to save the money on the kan and share.

You'll lose 50-100 fps going fom 18" to 16". You'll need to run the numbers in your ballistic program to decide if it matters to you. For my load, that would be about 1" more wind on a full value crosswind at 425 yards, from 17" to 18". The .223 sucks in the wind in the first place, and I think it needs all the help it can get. FWIW, I think 18" is the answer, and I'll be running a .30 cal can on it in another couple months.

Reports are that .30 cal cans work well on .223. Keep in mind the threads are different. If you want to run. .30 cal can on a .233, you'll need an adaptor or your barrel re-threaded.

Inside 300-400 yards 16 vs 18 is no big deal. Past that give me a 20.

Yeah, @ Tim K, I doubt I'd be shooting anything at 450, especially with the bullpup where I'm not able to get prone well I bet. If I could I'd love to shoot steel at 300 for boot camp nostalgia.
Even though I'm not a big prepper/government troops at my door any second type, I was thinking at shorter ranges more important in the amount of energy.
But I think I will go ahead and look for a 16. Havnnt look up overall lengths but would be awesome if it's even shorter than the KSG. Now choice is FDE or Black...

I agree 16" is probably the answer. Keep in mind you might have to cut the existing threads off and put on new threads if you want to screw a .30 cal can directly on. You might just inadvertently create an SBR for yourself...

They make adapters for 1/2-28 to 5/8-24. You will be at the mercy of how well your barrel is threaded, tir.

Laymans difference...

Shooting a3-gun match once and a friend and I were shooting near identical rifles with same ammo. Him a 20" , me a 16". Targets were in front of the drivers door of a stage car, Buick if I recall. My bullets dimpled the passenger side door. His shot through them. Can't say how fast they were going, but I wouldn't want to catch one with my anatomy.
