Old powder. Great purchase or o sh$!

So I bought five pounds of powder for $50 off armslist. Old dupont 3031. Metal can, centered lid that screws off 4 sealed one open. The open one smells and looks fine, no staining, smells like powder. Think I'm gonna blow myself up? Or, load with confidence!

I'd better tale it off your hands to safety check all of them.
I have some old hercules tins that work fine.

Everything depends on how it was stored. If it looks and smells good it almost certainly is. I'm still shooting cans of Dupont 4320 and 4350 with no problems. Also , even older cans of Bullseye and Unique.

One can was obviously bad. It took pliers to remove the cap, smelled different and had a ton of fine red powder inside and is presently fertilizing my lawn. Another one is distributed in a "few" different cases in different quantities waiting to be tested at the range Saturday. And the empty will look ok on the mantle. Ill report back as to how it handles, I don't chrono, so ill just have to watch cases for pressure signs. I hope it goes bang and not poof or BANG.
