I'm going to be purchasing a Tavor with a portion of my tax return and I was thinking to mount an SRS on it. Stopped in Gunsport in Boulder today and they had one so I asked to see it. I have a minor astigmatism that causes my CompM3 dot to flare slightly, the SRS was nothing like that. It was a goddamn SUPERNOVA. I thought a solar system had exploded in that optic, the dot looked like it was 8 MOA or bigger.
Scared me so much I sped home thinking my vision was degrading, and immediately pulled out my Aimpoint to make sure I hadn't gone blind in a day. Maybe the SRS they had on display had something wrong with it? Maybe certain optics make astigmatism seem worse?

haha weird. There *are* 12 brightness settings, maybe that was jacked all the way up? I know that even my EOTech turned all the way up is way too bright for most daylight settings and is uncomfortable (to me) to look at.
I am actually in the exact same spot as you Tavor wise (picked mine up yesterday!) and am hunting for a red-dot to put on it. Did Gunsport in Boulder have lots of the typical mid-to-top end models on display?

I couldn't tell you if they had it jacked up. I tried to turn it down but to no avail. They had a good amount of Trij optics but nothing else really or other red dots. I'm going to the optician first, and then I'm going to take another look at one.

I'd be interested to see if it approves on your next look.
