Apparently used a "miltary-style semi-automatic rifle"

The story on CNN says he shot two shots with the semi-auto rifle then pulled the pistol when confronted and shot himself. Who knows what really happened.

Read somewhere he was dressed like an elf. Any one know if that was true?

I am willing to believe that

Geez, read the story:
(CNN) -- A man shot and killed himself Thursday in the pre-screening area of Terminal B at Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, authorities said.
A law enforcement source with knowledge of the investigation into the shooting told CNN that a man attempted to get through a security checkpoint with a gun and when authorities tried to apprehend him, he killed himself.
CNN affiliate KHOU reported a man walked into the terminal with a military-style semi-automatic rifle and fired two shots into the ceiling. When he was confronted by an air marshal, the man pulled out another gun and shot himself, the station said, citing witnesses in the terminal.
Roxanne Mena, with the Harris County Medical Examiner's Office, said a team was going to the airport to pick up the body of a male gunshot victim.
The shooting occurred near the ticketing counter in the terminal.
The terminal was closed and passengers were being screened, then moved to another terminal, KHOU reported.
The Federal Aviation Administration says flights arriving Thursday afternoon at Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport were delayed by nearly an hour because of a "security" issue, presumably related to the shooting at the airport's Terminal B.

So what I get out of that is the guy was a bit unhinged, tries to get through airport security with a gun, got caught, and offed himself. So exactly how does one try and slip a rifle through security checkpoints anyway? Backpack? Wonder if the truth is that he had a handgun in his pocket, got caught, and blew his brains out?
Cant wait for the official version...

Yeah, I guess the elf thing was a typo or something. That would have made it a little more interesting though. At least this a-hole had the sense to just off himself. Makes me wonder why he couldn't have just done it in the privacy of his own home.

Shep on FNC said "unconfirmed, but some are saying he was dressed as an elf." [LOL]Add that to the list of things I never thought I'd hear Shepherd Smith say.

Couldn't have anything to do with the NRA convention being in Houston? Coincidence?

I wouldn't put it past the left

Lots of people do it that way every day. Doesn't even make the news. I think most of the wackos who do any type of public suicide or homicide do it hoping to make headlines. Hell, this guy is being talked about in Colorado right here. Had he just killed himself at home I doubt you would even know about it.

He obviously didn't read my article: Suicide: Getting it Right the First Time (http://sunrie.xanga.com/586965556/suicide-getting-it-right-the-first-time/)

Those damn elves. You just can't trust those horrible creatures.
Good riddance, f'ing jackwagon. It's incredible (and sad/ridiculous) to think how many people's days were ruined because of those 3 shots, and how much commerce was affected at the same time, and he only shot himself (thank god)... just incredible.

Can we change the title of this thread to more accurately reflect the story? Nobody "shot up" the Houston airport.

Must have been on a furlough day from the North Pole. That's a shitty airport.
