All of the big wholesalers are out, as are midway, brownells, and all the other normal online places.

I keep telling folks I have no idea when I will get some, but they keep ordering them any way. I ahve over 600 sold now :(

Anyone have any experience with the 20 round PMAGs? Good, bad or indifferent? I have a stash of GI 20 rounders and would like to get a few 20s while I can.

Order? Good luck on that. Most places ore back ordered indefinatly.

Magpul simply can not keep upw ith even 10% of demand.

Come to the Springs show next weekend Machine Gun Tours will probably have some.

I'll plan to head to the show next weekend. I had placed an order about a month ago with Brownells for a buddy and will take some of his when (if) they arrive.

They are around- you just have to hunt for them. Been getting 2 here-3 there-5 at another place and so on- all have shipped within a couple days and while I haave had to pay up to $16 a pmag at times- my pile a mags is about where it needs to be at 1/3 the cost of what some morons want for their crap.

so where is a good place to get pmags?

when I placed the order the del-ton site said 8-10 weeks for delivery. then it went to 10-12. now it says 12-16.

sick of waiting and want to buy local if I can.

I hope obama stubs his toe really hard on something.

Basicly if you are nto there in the first 30 minutes on Sat you are probably hosed.

Just FYI, some military units are going to PMags exclusively, mine being one of them. They just flat out run and take a lot more punishment than the regular mags. So, military units ordering these things by the 10s of thousands is probably impacting the amount out there for commercial sales too.

Hell, I just got back from Iraq and was issued 7 PMags and took another 8 of my own.

LaRue has them for the actual retail price, not this inflated because we can crap pricing we see EVERYWHERE!

I just ordered a 20-pack of FDE 30-rounders w/window from GunBroker seller checkpointcharlie. Works out to $18.55 per mag shipped. I ordered them Sat and they shipped Mon. He seems to have lots of them at regular prices...not inflated prices.

Warning!

A friend in Texas just received a batch of Pmags and 7 of the 10 were apparently knock offs. They looked different and he said they fit the mag well poorly and do not drop when released.

He provided side-by-side photos of a actual Pmag and you can see the difference. I will try to post in a new thread as soon as I get more information. He has sent the photos and description of this "other" Pmag to Magpul.

Again, I will make a new thread as soon as I have more information but thought this needed to be addressed here as soon as possible.

Buyer beware!

They were most likely the Israeli plastic mags. They pop up from time to time. What is the latest word on pricing? I had a deal going for 3 new ones that I had, but I backed out of it for 2 reasons. I wasn't sure I could replace them and the "buyer" was in California and I can't afford to get busted for something dumb. Last price I got was $25 each on regular mags.

Mike at Bower's Tactical sells them for about $14 non-window when he has them.Unfortunately he's been backordered like most dealers.

westy1970

That's just it. No one has any in stock. That is why they are going for $25 on GB. It's not the dealers gouging, it is bidders bidding. Crazy times. Every time I think of selling my AK's I go online and decide to keep them.

Just so you know the magpuls have changed now. there is the "M" version. I got some of them. The old ones had black followers, new ones are grey. bottom of the new ones have a grey insert in the middle of the floorplate.

Indention on the non window pmags is gone and now looks smooth. The raised ribs aren't as "raised"

So make sure they aren't the new and old ones mixed as I am sure there will be a little bit of that. the old ones had problem dropping free from some lowers that were said to not be mil-spec more realisitically I think it would due to the small amount of flexing in the pmag design and the news ones have fixed this.

I love the look of the pmags and the 100% function when they are new but time will tell. they are still indeed plastic, still require a dust cover so they don't crack over time and it is shown that the metal mags are tried tested and true. that is why you still see mags around with alloy followers from the 70's and some from before...and they still work in your brand new ARs. Updating the follower and maybe the springs is the best thing you can do but in the end, the metal ones work and they work great.

Here is the side-by-side photos of the questionable Pmag. If you are correct sniper, and this isn't a knock off but a new magazine from Magpul, they have taken a step backward. My buddy said none of these drop free from the well, yet all his previous Pmags do. He is using a Milspec LWRC M6A2 (the same rifle I have).

New/Questionable Pmag on left.

sniper7
02-20-2009, 12:40
yeah those are the new ones. They are the M version. not a knockoff.

Not sure why they wouldn't drop free. Mine are all good to go.

Thanks for the responses. Since I don't have any of these new Pmags, I am unable to personally confirm the issue with them dropping free of the mag well. I am concerned about it since I own an LWRC M6A2 and just convinced two friends to buy M6A2s as well. The Pmags I own have no problem dropping free of my M6A2, so hopefully this is an isolated issue with his rifle and magazines.

I apologize for the alarm, I was unaware that Magpul made manufacturing changes.

I went through 100 PMAGS in about 4 days...

I have another 100 on order...

They do have a drop free issue. They will NOT drop free new out of the package. This was on a new RRA lower. However, after loading and releasing a number of times (sit while watching a movie and load, drop, load, drop) they will drop free.

I have a friend who tried a couple in his AR (also a RRA) and they dropped free with no issue. His AR has about 4 years of wear and tear on it.

I have another 100 on order. The last order took about 3 months to get, my supplier said they are catching up quick with orders...

If you don't find any by then, i'll be posting them for sale here.

Depending on what they cost me this time they will be $15-$16. (last batch were $15)

I got some for my buddy. But now I want some for me.
If they are the ones with the windows & if you're going to sell them at the regular price (what you listed) put me down for 10.
At that price, I can wait.

Brownells has quite a few magazines in stock. I was there last weekend and they have a very large box, 4x4x4 probably, full of PMAG 30 rounders.

Thought about picking up some of those while I am waiting on my order.

If you can get the PMAGS for less than $25 and you are in the market, do it. Because when there was a shortage, and the first company I visited had them in stock for 28 non window, and 35 windowed. They are fantastic mags, especially for recreational shooters. People talk that they have problems with cracking and shattering at very low temp., and that is dropping a full mag 4+ ft directly onto the feed lip onto concrete. I have never once had a bad feed with any of them.

Guys, PMAGS are great, but don't pay over $20 for them. Your getting hosed if you pay over that. Check around, there are places that have small quantities in stock. Brownells has just about all of them in stock, and for what $12-$15?

Some local shops are trying to gouge you for 435 for a windowed Mag.
