Wow, Colorado Representative Tony Exum (D-Colo. Spgs.) replied to my email today (4 May 2013).
This is in response to my email from Tuesday, 12 March 2013.
I am glad to hear the rumors of e-mail deletion were false,
and that elected officials like him value constituent input before voting on important issues.

I haven't heard from Senator Morse yet; he must be awfully busy, too.

Dear CobaltSkink,

Thank you very much for contacting my office regarding firearm legislation and for sharing your feelings on the issues of gun regulation and firearms safety. I apologize if my response has been slower than usual, but I received a great deal of emails and phone calls on this topic and I have been hard at work responding to each of my constituents. I voted for HB13-1224, HB13-1226, HB13-1228 and HB13-1229 because I support finding a balance between respecting gun owners’ rights and protecting our communities.

I understand and appreciate the need to protect the Second Amendment but also believe we need meaningful action to keep our communities safe from gun violence. I am encouraged that we have begun a meaningful public conversation about gun safety and that our state and our nation are now publicly debating assault weapons, ammunition and mental health.

I truly appreciate that you took the time to share your thoughts with me today and I want you to know that I consider the comments of all of my constituents, regardless of their politics, as I consider any proposed legislation.

Sincerely,

Tony Exum Sr.
State Representative
House District 17

I'm really disliking one of the libs favorite sayings: "Lets have a conversation". There was absolutely no conversation whatsoever in CO about gun violence and the 2nd amendment - it was all about the Dems shoving Bloombergs agenda down our throats, "conversation" be damned. The only conversation I want to have with them is at the ballot box.

Su Ryden is my Rep and tried the same BS. I had talked to her several times before the votes, then after, she wants to "have a conversation", it was like a rapist complaining we don't have cudle time! We had already been F¥%^*ed.

And to think my wife actually asked me this morning: "And just why is it we are going to look at property in Wyoming"?
[Bang]

Look at the entire package in this state:
We now have "Amendment 64"
In one 4 1/2 month legislative session our legislators have passed or are close to:
Civil Unions
A package of firearm related bills that accomplish nothing for public safety where the majority of citizens opposed strongly.
In state tuition for illegals children.
Drivers licenses for illegals.
Repealment of a law that mandated LE contact ICE if contact was made with a suspected illegal.
"Redistricting" political bounds.
Same day voter registration.
HB 252 that mandates IREA's provide no less than 25% of their electriticy by "green" sources.
Failed to pass "Jessicas Law"

Paints a rosey picture eh?

Oh there was a conversation, but our side was entirely ignored and dismissed by the left. You may want to have a conversation with them at the polls, but IMHO the only conversation they should be having is through a pane of plexiglass during visiting hours or with their fellow inmates.

Sweet form letter.
Yep, not really a personal email at all.

Same garbage reply that all the other D-reps have sent. Note the word "but" after his phrase: "I understand and appreciate the need to protect the Second Amendment". Therein lies the problem. There's no "but" after an Amendment. There is no conversation. There is no 'common sense'. There is a Right or there isn't. Period.

And those who propose & vote to continually strip us of the Rights need to be held accountable for their actions... They can put that in their 'conversation' pipes and smoke it!

Nice to know that he responded in a timely manner and actually considered your opinion and a constituent.

TRANSLATION:

I am a Democrat and therefore know better than you how the state needs to control you. Your thoughts, beliefs, knowledge is irrelevant. Your "Constitution" is an impediment to our agenda and we will do everything we can, legal, illegal, moral and immoral to destroy your "Constitution".

Great, we need more of this. Not all "Dems" agree with what has happened. From those percentages, thats 9 out of 10. Keep it up! Together we can turn this back.
