Don't read too much into that article. Media hype. We are not out sourcing all of our Defense Comms to the Chinese. The military rents commercial transponder space all the time to fill in gaps here and there.

Our mil and gov use off the shelf and pre-existing commercial comm satellites all the time. Nothing to be concerned about here.
