Ok maybe I'm going to go a little tin foil hat here but bare with me.
The proposal, Senate Concurrent Resolution 3, would put two different constitutional measures before the voters in November. The first would ask voters to approve special sales and excise taxes on recreational marijuana. If that measure fails, a second measure would ask voters whether they want to suspend recreational marijuana sales
So this is being pushed by Morse and while Dems have never seen a tax they don't like here is my thought. They stall and push this to a vote by the people, which I'm only assuming would be mid term 2014. This again brings out the stoner vote, who are likely to vote democrat on other issues and election. Now they overcome any blowback from newly introduced gun laws seeing as how the stoners are more likely to outnumber the 2A supporters by a large margin.
No tin foil necessary. They have an agenda and will pull every dirty trick they can to win.
I agree that is probably the motivation but why should it matter. Why don't you turn that around and support them. Pot being banned was just part of another gov ban. It has not always been this way. Those who are against pot should also be against alcohol. I don't smoke but I don't support BS bans unless there is a real danger and the munchies does not rise to that bar.

The Denver Post article said that it would go in front of the voters 'in November'. My assumption was that since the MJ sales can start as early as Jan 2014 that the vote would be this November, otherwise they would have MJ sales for almost a year without their beloved taxes. http://www.denverpost.com/breakingnews/ci_23112951/colorado-marijuana-legalization-backers-say-repeal-effort-is

I'd say Hound has the right of it and Rooskibar03 has the proper perspective for handling the proposals. I mean, why else would they start involving us peons in the legislative process? If McNulty is the only one trying to attach a repeal clause to the tax proposal, he's shooting his party in the foot by frightening typical marijuana users into showing up at the polls. Otherwise the article was long on "if" and short on any real cause for concern; looks like we're causing the problem "ourselves."
I'll write them of course, but if someone with some extra cash could hire an escort to deliver an oral message to a sympathetic representative directly, that would be much more well-received.
So many seats in the house were lost because of the pot vote i would not put it past them. Morse is sly like a fox and always seems to work different angles.

I'm liking just about everything this guy Hound, has to say.

Actually, both pose quite a bit of real danger- driving while intoxicated (pot and alcohol) is very dangerous. But danger was not a reason for it being prohibited in the first place. I agree, we shouldn't have it be illegal anymore- liberty- but don't twist the facts and say it's harmless.

Point taken and I agree. I would like to see pot handled like alcohol.
