This^^ and then buy one or two reloading manuals and read the front of those also. Feel free to ask questions also.

That's a decent "How To" book. I don't really buy data books any longer (although Hodgdon's annual data book on the magazine rack always tempts me) as I mostly use powder company's online data.

Lyman"s 49th edition is my favorite. Still like to look at Lees and a couple others too.

For the ABCs of Reloading on Amazon, I'm not sure if you have a kindle device, but if you do, you can "borrow it" for free.

Lyman 49, Speer 14, Sierra, then hornady 9... In that order.

Also rans....nosler is ok. Berger is almost useless they are so conservative. Lee manual is a waste of money.

Just my opinion...

Yeah the Lee book is real generic. If I can't find what I'm looking for elsewhere maybe the Lee book has something I can start with or push the edge a little.

The only thing wrong with Lyman 49 is that it's not Lyman 50. More than a couple cartridges need to be added. If you have some fancy new-fangled rig, this might not be the manual for you... Hornady 9 has the most recent stuff.

But... it has multiple bullet manufacturers represented, a good amount of lead data (including rifle), uses realistic barrel lengths for testing, and I've usually had very similar results, including their accuracy loads.

I personally like the Lee manual. I also have the Speer manual and definitely want to pick up the Lymann 49th.

YEah my rig is not new or fancy just an old rockchucker from the 80s. I have plenty of powder and primers and brass, just need .45 bullets, a book and a scale. Thanks guys, I will start with that book on amazon and move on from there.

Ooops. By new fangled, I meant newer cartridges like .300 blackout. That rockchucker will serve you well.
