View Full Version : I have been approved.
A few people on here know but I have finally been approved for a liver transplant. I have a hereditary blood disorder that has jacked up my liver. So now the wait begins for a slightly used liver.

Congrats. That is awesome news.
My oldest brother is on the list and has had to move from MT to Phoenix in order to be close enough to the Mayo Clinic for treatment and transplant.
Glad to hear you made it.

Outstanding! Good for you! Best of luck with the procedure. Where is it being done if you don't mind answering?

Congrats Lurch. Prayers for you!
That's terrific news Lurch! I'll send some prayers up that it's a short wait for a match, easy surgery, and a fast recovery for you!

They can do what is called a living donor where they take the right lobe from a donor and basically sew it onto the jacked up liver. But its hard to find someone with the same size liver.

I wish but those days are behind me. With fishing season coming up it's going to be tough. But I found a place that sells about 100 different root beers so I'm good.
Congratulations!! That is fantastic news!

Man that is great news!!!
Best wishes for a short wait and fast recovery!
Congratulations!! All speed to you.
Congrats and good luck.
I do LFT every year to see if my liver is in tact. I do Kidney Function Test as well.
So far good, but when I turn 60s-70s, getting a liver transplant is not out of the equations yet.

Let me guess, hemochromatosis right? I was diagnosed last year. Fortunately they caught it early. All the best Lurch!
