I just got this and thought we should all know (here we go again!):

Dear AntiGun Guy -

Because of your commitment to the issue, there's reason to hope we'll see movement on gun violence legislation again ... as soon as the next few months, maybe.

Let me explain why.

First, Senator Manchin has vowed to bring his bill back up, and several of his colleagues who voted NO are showing signs that switching their votes might be possible.

But a bill doesn't get to President Obama's desk until it passes the House of Representatives, and now there's a vehicle for that to happen.

Representatives Peter King (R-NY) and Mike Thompson (D-CA) have introduced a bipartisan bill that is IDENTICAL to the Manchin-Toomey Senate legislation.

The bill has more than 150 co-sponsors, but Representative Mike Coffman is not yet one of them.

Please send your representative a note asking for their support of the bipartisan King-Thompson legislation to expand background checks for gun purchases.

You can do that here:

http://action.americansforresponsiblesolutions.org/king-thompson

As you know, over 90% of Americans support expanding background checks and Senators who filibustered the bill last month are feeling the heat back home.

With this House bill, our the path to expanded background checks becoming the law of the land is clearer than it's been at any time before.

Sincerely,

Peter King is NOT a Republican, he's a New Yorker. If it's an identical bill to Manchin-Toomey, then it deserves the same fate.

Being straight about what's actually in the bill would be nice, but that would defeat the purpose of passing the bill in the first place: it's meant to be muddy...

I left a message for him at his office and home. I'll be interested to hear his support / sponsorship of this crap.
