No guidance yet on how to do post-7/1 private party background checks, or any of the other new bullshit laws.

Nope - I can tell anyone to go pound sand, or various other non-background-check-conducting activities.

How in the hell do you know what to pay? i'm assuming you did 270 transfers?
The taxman comes and the taxman takes away.

CBI tracks the FFL BGC, transfers or in store sales does not matter, and sends a monthly bill for the money that the FFL is suppose to collect. Doesn't matter if they did or not, $10 per BGC. The fee for transfer is up to the dealer to set as they see fit.

Every time the dealer submits a background check in InstaCheck they charge them $10. I received my bill as well :(

I meant if you sell a firearm you have to, not that you have to allow private transfers. I guess maybe sneakerd was referring to private transfers too.
total bullshit. time to make all transfers even at dealers private party. eliminate the CBI completely.

I was specifically referring to the upcoming BGC requirement for private party sales. These obviously have to be done by an FFL. I believe that it's up to the FFL as to whether he/she is going to do the private-party sales BGCs.

You know, for charging a fee and calling it "Instacheck," I shouldn't have to wait 45 minutes for it to come back.
I don't see why a private party seller can't just log into the CBI website on their phone and do it themselves. I think they charge something like seven bucks on your credit card for instant results, no waiting, but it only covers Colorado convictions. And if the buyer has a CCW or valid military, police, fire, or EMS identification it seems obvious they're not a prohibited person.

This! You get what you pay for, right? Well we paid absolutely nothing before all this, and we got increasing wait times (first pistol from Bailey Guns back when he was still doing business back in '06 took about 15min -> 2hrs last pre-panic purchase last summer). Now that we have to pay for it, am I out of line for expecting the service to increase in quality and efficiency?

I waited exactly 1 week in January for an "InstaCheck"

Because that would not fulfill the requirements of the new law.

I was told yesterday if a person gets rejected, not denied, we aren't charged...don't know how true that is.

It was 1.5hrs a few days ago.

Correct. Rejected are not charged as they are a clerical error and are going to be resubmitted.
Denials get charged (BTW, CO is 3rd highest in the USA for denials at 3.6% and has a 58.8% overturn rate... If I was wrong 60% of the time, I would consider my system fucking broke!)
ACCIDENTAL RESUBMITTALS get charged as a new submittal. Instacheck will glitch sometimes if you refresh the page immediately after submitting a check and double submit the check. To stop this from happening, click on the link to the left to recall the submittal screen.

So if CBI fucked up and you have to submit again, it's another $10?
So much win in this BS.

No. If the Instacheck computer submittal software double submits a background, they will charge for each.
Don't ask me why... There is a lot of stupid in CO's system. The reason so many are erroneously turned down is they don't want to research incomplete info in CCIC and NCIC. So, they deny it instead of doing the research right off the bat. They force the purchaser to appeal the denial. This is pent-amount to denial of an individual right instead of erring on the side of NOT denying an individual right which is REQUIRED based on Federal law. They will also deny someone for owing the state money which the last time I checked didn't fit into the mentally broken or felony categories.
Seriously, ACLU cherry picks their causes. This state has been screwing individuals for years and nobody has ever taken this crap to court.

I got that 'puter stuff. To be more specific, my question was about a charge if required to re-submit for appeal.

So are you saying that if I owe unpaid income TAXES, they can deny? That's fucked up on so many levels.

As long as the appeal is overturned within 30 days, then no resubmittal is required and no additional $10. Ya, like that happens a lot... I have yet to see an overturned appeal happen in less than 30 days. They 'mail' the results of the appeal.
Yes. I've seen someone denied for owing the state college tuition and another for unpaid property taxes. If it get to the level of legal action for the state to get their money, you are getting denied.

Who are all of these people getting denied and why? I'm batting 100%, 121 for 121!
