Listen to the teacher the whole time- dismissive, disrespectful, and doesn't sound too smart either. I had teachers like that in HS. I got kicked out of class for calling one out when I had a question on something I didn't understand in the book, she didn't come and explain it, she simply said "It's in the book, look it up." I responded with "I don't understand what's in the book! Are you even qualified to teach or do they just give you a book and say 'this thing will teach the class, we need you to just hand it out'?"
Want a better future? We need better teachers.

I love that he points out that to earn her paycheck she might want to teach the kids and make it interesting. Radical ideas there. Be careful... Terrorist in training!!

I like it! I would love to have that kid in one of my classes!! That being said, I do understand there is a "burn out" phase for the vast majority of teachers who have been on the job for any length of time. A lot of them simply do as the kids do: give up and collect a check. They are tired of trying to get the kids motivated, tired of fighting with them day after day about the same things over and over and over. Tired of them not paying attention, etc. I could go on for a while.... but I don't want to preach. Bottom line, that kid rocks, I'd love to have a thousand of him in my classes. Bravo!

I has similar issues with two teachers in my first high school

One had a VERY thick india indian accent and it was hard to understand her at times ( for algebra) I got in quite bit of trouble when I got frustrated and upset I could not under stand an assignment and I kinda went off...


The other was a SUPER monotone Chem teacher.. not his fault I guess .. he seemed to care but man I could not stay awake during his class. he'd start a lecture and I was out within 3 mins... I transferred schools ( for a number of other reasons) went from a D- in chem to an A+ ( highest scores in the whole school), and teachers assistant at the new school .


That said I'll admit teachers have a tough job esp in todays world. I'd rather be a grunt in the trenches or a cop on the beat then a teacher in the hallways.

You'll probably understand and relate to this:
Good teachers can get burned out and their teaching abilities suffer. Great teachers get burned out, but improve and engage the students.
I had a history teacher in HS that to this day remains my favorite teacher (never mind that he's a conservative). He always kept classes exciting, entertaining, and highly educational. I learned more in one semester from him that I could have in two from any teacher. [Beer]
