Gun show pricing

Headed to my first gun show ever this weekend(not in CO). I'm looking to pick up an AK and some 7.62x39 ammo. Obviously I'm new to both the particular gun and gun shows so I was curious what prices you would consider a steal and too good to pass up? If the ammo prices are so-so I won't really bother since I'll have to transport it 1,200+ miles but if I saw a killer price I would buy some. Should I expect to see much discount at a show on new rifles or do you have to go private party/used to find a good deal?

$200 for a case (1,000 rounds) of 7.62x39 would be a decent deal. But if you're looking for deal, I sure wouldn't go to a gun show.

News FLASH Cost on 7.62x39 is WAYYYY oover what you just quoted.

Those prices are a thing of the past. Dealers that may have bought it cheaper than that now have to charge way more becaus eof replacement cost to get more.

those ammo guys @ crossroads (miwall???) not sure was very busy, were charging $350 K on 7.62x39 and it was moving very quick.

the days of $150-200 comblock are gone. with the demand on centerfire ammo, i'm hedging my funds for bulk .22lr thats all i can afford to shoot. even with reloading!

The days of inexpensive ammo are NOT gone - it's still coming in, with modest increases here and there.

Miwall and others are doing what gun dealers have been doing since the dawn of time, capitalizing on public panic to rape us.

This all started when Obama won the election - pure and simple.

Remember the Y2K "shortages"? Things were so crazy you could get 3 times what a gun was worth because of panic buying.

It has nothing to do with the cost of doing business, it has everything to do with the perception that the stuff is going to get scarce.

combine that with the "I don't want to get on record with the government as being a gun owner" mania and the outrageous FTF prices make more sense.

I just bought five cases of 7.62 for 249 a case, delivered price. 350 for the same case from Miwall/Buyammo? Gouging, pure and simple.

Once the election panic is over, I would expect some downward pressure on ammo prices.

1st, the cost of lead and copper is currently half of what it was last year at this time.

2nd, the dollar is at an all time high against other currencies, this translates into imported goods being less expensive.

Just have to see what happens.

Aim Surplus has 700 round cans for $139.95. Shipping is $22.64 (to me in Centennial) so the total shipped would $162.59 for 700 rounds. That's not too bad.

So pricing at shows usually isn't that great? I was always thought the main reason people went to the shows was to get good deals on things.

you used to be able to get good deals at a funshow.. now everyone is out to rape each other..

Sure I understand capitolism, but it has become a waste of time.. too many sellers want 100%+ instant profit from every customer.. this leads to potential customers being ripped off unknowingly or not buying a damn thing.. and I think thats whats happening now. gun stores and related are our own worst enemies.

All knowing elitists and bs artists are another problem with the "industry"

I stopped going to the local gun shows 6 months ago. After seeing the stupid prices for most of the junk there I figured I'd be better off applying my $10 admission fee towards a gun/ammo purchase. ...although I do miss overhearing all of he mall ninja talk [Ninja]
