NEW ORLEANS (AP) - New Orleans police say that a dozen people have been shot during a Mother's Day second-line parade.
Police Superintendent Ronal Serpas told reporters at least 12 people were shot during the parade in the city's 7th Ward.
Police say the incident happened about 2 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Frenchmen and Villere streets.
The Times-Picayune reports there were about 200 people at the event when gunfire erupted.
Serpas told reporters the victims include a 10-year-old who sustained a minor wound. WDSU-TV reports at least four people were in surgery and others had been taken to four area hospitals.
Nobody has been arrested. It's unclear what sparked the gunfire.
Police are said to be looking for three people in connection with the attack.

No suspects were in custody and it was not clear what motivated the shooter or shooters. Police are looking for three people in connection with the attack.
"Shots just started ringing out and everyone started running," one eyewitness told WDSU's Rachel Wulff. "Next thing I hear, 10, 15 people got shot."
The incident happened shortly shortly after 1 p.m. in the 7th Ward. Investigators believe more than one person fired the shots.
"Maybe two different types of weapons," Serpas said. "Immediately after the shots were fired, our officers saw three people running away on Frenchmen toward Claiborne."
Serpas said one of the shooters appeared to be a dark-skinned man, 18-22 years old, with short hair and wearing a white shirt and blue jean shorts.
"Obviously, these are unusual circumstances," Serpas said. "We have second lines that occur in the City of New Orleans virtually every weekend this time of the year. We had a full complement of police officers (on detail).
"It appears that these two or three people just for a reason unknown to us started shooting at towards or in the crowd. It was over in just a matter of seconds. Police were everywhere."

Well that doesn't make sense. Parades are no carry zones in Louisiana, how could anyone have a gun there?

Mother Nature tried to flush that toilet a few years ago, was actually clean for a little while. The democrats delayed elections and enacted "the road home" program to help people move back who couldn't afford to...

19 now according to USA Today.
Just a hint...but this will never be over.
ya know, I never thought it was over forever... Just this round. It seems like every time we start to move on to the 'Next' thing it keeps popping up again. It's kinda like picking at a scab that won't heal. Ya you're gonna get more scraps but usually the current wound is allowed to heal over.
Um, apparently, the police weren't exactly "everywhere".
Hey, watch what you are saying there... Cops are everywhere all the time... Uncle Biden told us so. Worst case, we just need a shotgun as a backup cuz when seconds count and cops are in the crowd we are ...... I can't keep it up. None of this makes any sense.. ;)
On a side note: Can you imagine if people were walking around in that parade with shotguns... Just musing. Oh, well.
Without reading much in to this, if people were only injured, and not killed, my guess is that at least two people were just shooting at each other, and neither of them hit each other. Kind of like the shooting at the pot rally here in Denver.

Deployed twice down there for hurricanes, once as a regular medic, the other as an ARMED medic. You'll never catch me in that pit again without protection!

What you're assuring is that you're not actually going to hit the person that you're shooting at, but it's all the innocent people around there. That's the point.
