Recommendations Please!!!

I wanna take 1 of my three sons up camping next week, I feel it may be to cold for the the 5 and 3 year old boys but I think the 12 year old is ready. Anyone have any good suggestions for dispersed camping spots where you can fire your weapon. I have a lifted Jeep Wrangler Unlimited so trails are not an issue.

Going to try in 2 weeks. We are packing in. Looking at a mile in. He's 3. I'd say below 8k' you'll be ok. Want to keep him out of the snow and comfy.!

I'm looking at Kelly Flats area off of 14 north of the Fort.

Im sure we are in the same boat, ready to get them up. Be patient, we have a long season ahead of us!!! [Flower]

I took my boy when he was much younger to Platte River Campground. The next day we went to the South site.

texas creek is a nice area, and has a shit ton of blm land and trails. take a right off of hwy 50 just past where it intersects with hwy 69 go over the tracks and turn right up the dry creek bed, you can camp most anywhere and they have maps in the parking area you pass on the way in.

My fav place to go camping with a lot of trails in the middle of no where is taylor park. its 3+ hours out and it gets cold over night, but with the scenario and the secluded spots... its worth it! We will be taking my 2 year old out there this year hopefully but my inlaws have a motor home. My FIL has been going there since he was a little boy and we plan to continue the tradition.

It's still early for taylor Park. 4mile near buena vista was a total snow and mud mess last weekend. And was snowing on friday later in the afternoon. Taylor is much higher and gets worse weather. I would also suggest Texas creek. It is always a lot warmer there then any other spots. I was there 2 weeks ago and it was totally snow free and really warm. Lots of trails and lots of areas to camp and shoot. There is a small cafe where you enter the OHV area. They are open during the day till about 2 or so and have really good food. Super friendly people too.

Next weekend is memorial day weekend so everywhere is going to be more crowded then usual.

I live at 9000 feet. Camp below 9000 for sure if you want to avoid snow.
