View Full Version : 22 rifle giveaway - for KIDS only----Last and FINAL ONE

We were saving these two for this December, but obviously, we can't wait until then. Thanks to someone with a name something like.....Lickenpooper who signed an UN-constitutional bill making it ILLEGAL as of July 1st, to GIVEAWAY a firearm unless you are willing to PAY for the privilege of registering said firearm. Which I am NOT willing to do. (registration leads to confiscation) It's a shame, with a stroke of his mighty pen, Lickenpooper brings to a end, what around this household, was becoming a tradition which we have enjoyed for over a decade. However, I am thankful we were able to do it as long as we have. Enough ranting, let's get to the good stuff.
Spring time is a GOOD time to do this as well.
Same as always, there are 2 rifles, both are single shot, bolt action. One is going to go to a boy, the other is going to a girl.
(wife says one has to go to a girl, gotta keep the wife happy ya know )
Besides, I happen to agree with her.
So enter the young ladies too.
The boy will receive a Western Field Model M815. It has a 24 1/4" barrel, an overall length of 43 1/4" and weighs in at 5.3 lbs. It is the top one in the picture.
The girl will receive a Marlin Model-10 It has a 22" barrel, an overall length of 39" and weighs in at 4.84 lbs. It is the bottom one in the picture.
Both of these rifles shoot well and take S-L-LR ammo. Bolt action, single shot, with iron sights, no scope (which, in my opinion) is the way a young one should learn to shoot. One shot at a time, concentrating on accuracy.
So, to the rules.
1. If you are a previous winner of ANY firearm, please don’t enter, let’s pass it around.
2. I would like this rifle to go to a child that does not already have a firearm. Honor system.
3. What age child? Thinking about 8-12.
You know, better than I, if your child is responsible enough for a firearm or not.
4. You must be an active participant in this forum to nominate the child. My judgment.
5. Can be, but does not have to be, your child, grandchild. Can be a niece, nephew, friends kid, etc.
6. Tell us a little about the kid. (Mandatory)
Don't need a life history, but "Please enter Brian." ain't gonna make it.
If you do not want to put this info online, PM it to me.
7. I will end this when I feel like it. Possession WILL happen before July 1.
8. I will need (signed) parents permission.
9. This is for Colorado residents ONLY.
10. If you are not comfortable receiving the rifle, without going through an FFL, don’t nominate anyone. Not using an FFL is perfectly legal (well...until July 1st) and looked at by the BATF, as a same state sale.
Seeing as how this IS for ANY kid in Colorado, I am quoting from the BATF FAQ website (the pertinent part) just in case it needs to be shipped. (It will be FTF (face to face) for the Denver metro area)
(quote)(B7) May a nonlicensee ship a firearm through the U.S. Postal Service?
A nonlicensee may mail a shotgun or rifle to a resident of his or her own State or to a licensee in any State.(/quote)
Parents, if you are not willing to take the kid shooting, don’t enter. I don't want this to turn out to be a dust collector. Please don’t enter “just because it is free” Lets get these to kids that (along with the parents) are going to shoot them.
I hope these rifles gives YEARS of enjoyment to the winners.
Since it has been asked before. If anyone wants to donate something, you are MORE than welcome to. Ammo, eyes, ears, cleaning kit, rifle case, targets, or anything else you can think of. It will be up to you to get it to the winner(s).
If no one donates the necessities, eyes, ears, ammo. I will make sure that the winner gets some, if needed/wanted.
KIDS ARE OUR FUTURE.

Very cool man. You are a good man for doing this.
Good luck to those who enter! [Flower]
I will add a box of federal auto match 325 for each. To get them started.
I will nominate my oldest Alyssa, she is a very speacial lil girl to me. She is a strong and happy kid. No matter what she has been thru she goes thru it with a smile. I recently took her shooting for the first time and she loved it. I made her sit through a ccw course first and she jyst sat there and listened, at the range she waited her turn and showed that she could listen and follow range rules and gun safety. She has been begging me to take her again and asked if i would byy her her own gun for christmas. Thanks.

I will put a entry in. So here's the scoop. My son and I love to shoot and it's a fun bonding time. Well the last time we went out shooting and came back, his sister was bummed and said that she would like to go shooting. Next thing I know 10 mins later big brother is outback showing her all he has learned and what to do with the pellet guns. Made me proud that its getting passed on. So put her in the hat for one! This is really a great thing you guys do!
Great of you to do this again Pickenup!
Like in the past I will add in ear and eye protection to the winners!

As before I am in for cleaning kits and some targets for the winners.
I am sad to see this go away, always enjoy seeing the nominations and the winners.
Well dang, this is pretty friggin cool. I'd like to enter my daughter, she is 10 and she got to shoot her first gun last weekend thanks to the 22 ammo giveaway here. She loved it a has asked me to go again twice. I can't get her to understand how hard ammo is to find and that if we shoot up all of it then we'll have to wait for more and it will probably be a while.
I have thought about getting her a rifle for herself so this would ideal.
This is an incredibly generous offer, thank you pickenup.
If its ok I'll add a 235 rd box of Winchester ammo to each winner.
It is good of you to do this. Here is a pic of my daughter shooting hers won from your last contest. She is hooked.

I am out of town on a trip and will have to work up some more info for you but I will put in my niece Addie for this...
Ok Addie is an 8 year older sister of 4 other siblings. 2 by her parents and 2 adopted from Uganda. She cares for and watches out for her siblings. The other night her younger sister had the stomach flu and Addie cared for her sister all night so her parents could get their rest...contrary to mothers directions to get her up if she was sick again.
The 5 kids and their parents live at and run a camp for underprivileged children in Durango...CrossBar X Youth Ranch. http://www.crossbarx.org/

I would like to nominate my oldest of three boys Ayden. Such a great kid, but he feels neglected because his to brothers are 7-9 years younger and are best friends so I try to do special things with him just the 2 of us. I posted a few days ago here (http://www.ar-15.co/threads/103275-Recommendations-Please!!!) looking for spots to take him camping, he has been begging to learn to shoot. I did get a box of 22lr donated for our trip from kwando (http://www.ar-15.co/members/470-kwando) in an ammo give away (http://www.ar-15.co/threads/101889-***WINNERS!!-WINNERS!!-WINNERS!!-22LR-ammo-giveaway-WINNERS!!***). This would just make his year if he won, thanks again for the chance pickenup.

Calla is my oldest. She is "sissy" to three younger brothers and my personal assistant. She is fully awesome. She has the greatest smile and a laugh that can cheer me up even on my grumpiest of days. When she's not running around or doing school work, she's up in a tree getting sap in her hair. Being the eldest, she takes on a lot of responsibilities and definitely has a first-born personality. Although she is a bit of a perfectionist, she loves to get dirty (http://www.ar-15.co/threads/101779-Afternoon-walk-with-my-daughter) and play crazy. Kung-fu, piano and soccer are high on her extra-curricular activities. She's a great student and loves to read. In martial arts, she's advancing quickly in her ranks by becoming proficient in the forms required at each level.
She LOVES being outside and is DYING to go camping again and the little she has shot (http://www.ar-15.co/threads/87127-First-time-shooting-a-quot-real-quot-pistol) has been enough to whet her appetite and she's hungry for more. Strong in body, mind and soul, I would cherish this opportunity to bless her with a rifle of her own. Here are a few pics that capture the essence (http://www.ar-15.co/attachment.php?attachmentid=16971&d=1355269896) of my "little peanut."

I will donate a basic rifle case for each one

I would like to nominate my grand nephew Albion, Albi is 8 yrs old and the oldest of the three brothers, he is pictured in the middle here. He started learning to shoot last summer and will continue this summer. He has been doing great at the range and his favorite target is the self healing spinner prairie dog. He shares everything with his two brothers Taylor 7 and Vini 7, so a rifle would see lots of range time with these guys. Thanks so much for the chance at this great offer, and thanks to all those who are donating.

1 box of Federal 525 value pack to each of the winners.
Good luck.

I would like to nominate my daughter Izzy. She is 12 years old. I have been teaching her the basics of firearm handling and safety for about a year now (we started with a single shot pellet gun in the basement). She has more recently been shooting my 10/22 and last week tried one of the ARs for the first time. She said she wants a pink AR someday......... Hopefully she will change her mind on the color but if not, at least she wants one. I told her we could make her an AR that shoots the 22lr like the 10/22 and she said "no, I want mine to shoot 5.56". She does not have a firearm of her own yet.
She is currently working very hard to bring her language arts grade up before the end of school (she has a B......the rest are all As and it's killing her). Even if she ends up with the B that is head and shoulders above what her old man brought home in 6th grade. Anyway she has worked her little tail off and this rifle would be a nice reward.
Should she get the rifle, it will not be a dust collector. We recently moved to a ranch and she will be able to walk out the front door and shoot it if she wants (a little different than Littleton where we were hiding out in the basement to shoot).
Enough chatter...............here is my Izzy

AWESOME for you to do this, and the charity other folks chip in with, thanks for the opportunity!
Ill nominate my daughter, Oriana. She's a big 5 year old who's been enjoying shooting her BB rifle for a little bit now. She gets a HUGE smile when she takes her time, and is rewarded with the pop can falling! She loves camping, and has been pestering since March to go camping again. We tried a few weekends but just a little too much when its windy or snowing each attempt! She wants to go hunting in the woods with a "real gun" as she puts it. And wants to shoot a real animal with it. We've gone over, and she understands that she can, but she has to practice and be real good with her rifle first, and she has to use what she kills, otherwise its not hunting, its just killing. She does surprisingly very well with gun safety currently. She knows she needs safety glasses, and earmuffs when using any gun (good practice!) The gun doesnt get pointed at anyone, turning safeties on and off, keeping the gun pointed in a safe direction etc. She decided when the BB gun came home it should live in the safe, unloaded as well. Her cousins Im sure would get use out of it as well (older girl, younger boy) as they have also been practicing with her BB gun and blowing away pop cans too! So this would get some real use, for years to come!

This is my son with his Red Ryder. He loves to shoot it with me and is a great kid. He is on the younger side at 5 1/2 but is responsible for the age and listens and follows direction well. We have been wanting to get him a .22 rifle but due to budget constraints and the IRS nailing us we have not been able to. My son Rowan just graduated from Cubbies in Awana and will be graduating from preschool this month. He would like to be a cardiologist when he grows up. Lol
ETA: I did have a .22 for both my boys the younger is 3y/o that had bought from a work friend of mine. I had it all set up with a small scope and 1000 rounds of ammo. This was three years ago and then he called me after 6 months and told me that he needed the rifle back since is grandfather had given it to his father and then to him. He didn't know this when he sold it, so I gave it back with all the ammo and scope. Which was a huge bummer since my boys were going to learn on it. If my son Rowan was to be chosen we will take pictures and use it quite a bit. Hopefully he can pass it down generations like my friends rifle.
Good to see something like this, sad to know it won't happen anymore. I'd nominate my stepson, but he's a couple years over the limit.

Be interesting to see how long 1300 rounds will last a kid with a new gun, probably not very long.

I will nominate my daughter Autumn. Her older brother has a 22 he uses so he is good. But little sister loves to go shooting with dad more then her brother and she is tired of trying to pump the pellet gun haha! She has been around guns since she was born and is safer then most of the guys I shoot with. There are lots of great kids already in the running and I have met some of them, so who ever wins the rifle its a win-win.
This pic is from a couple years ago.

This one is recent. She's gonna give dad a run for his money some day!!!

My older son has gone through a whole box of 500 rounds in a single range session with his single shot rifle many times. Now that him and his bother have a lever action and 10/22s they can go through even more.
I would like to nominate my friends younger brother. His name is Sam and is 10 years old. He really looks up to his brother since his dad is not in the picture that much. He plays AFC football for the Warriors and AAA Highlands Ranch Falcons Baseball. He is a good kid who gets awesome grades and would love to have his own .22 to take out with us when we shoot. He always wants to go and is very interested in the sport of shooting

This is Awesome of you guys to do this!
I passed up the Christmas one but want to put my son up this round. He is 8 and I started him out with a archery, then a pelet gun, now it's time for the big step. He has tried my Marlin Bolt but it is still to heavy for him. When we were out on Monday he got a few rounds down range and made me very proud when he turned down shooting his uncle's 10/22 because he wanted to take his time to load each round! I am hoping to kill 2 birds with one stone if my boy wins as my 5 year old daughter is working through the steps now and by the time she is ready he should be shooting the bigger rifle and he can pass this along to her.
Thanks again guys, this is a great community! Good luck to all who get in on this, whoever gets it will start build some awesome memories because of the generosity of you guys.
Here he is with the Marlin using a folding table I built:

I'd like to enter my son who is 10 and my daughter who is 12. Neither own a firearm. Only recurve bows at this point. My daughter saved her money up for most of a Ruger 10/22 or similar rifle and then on her own accord decided to give all to help mom get to Haiti to volunteer at a school/feeding center for children. Generosity and her good heart won out and she knew a rifle would have to wait.
My son who is pretty young to have much income just wants to shoot bad! Thanks for the consideration.
