Typically, they aren't supposed to hold umbrellas while in uniform because it makes it hard to salute. However, in this case, that might be a good thing. ;)

Yeah, not seeing the problem here. Perhaps he wanted to avoid mishaps like this:

Of all the things to be upset about this administration and the current state of our country I find this at the bottom of my list.

Uh, so why couldn't he talk in the press room? Oh right, because the rose garden during a rainstorm makes so much more sense. That's a bigger fail here than uselessly having the WH Marines hold umbrellas.

Staffer: "Sir! Our consulate in Benghazi is under attack! Should we send in the Marines? They're only a few hours away..."

Obama: "No. I need them for something more important."

Staffer: "Like what????"

Let's face it, he's one big turd ball. Having said that, this IS one of the things they do and I'd rather hold an umbrella than have to salute the bastage. Instead of worrying about what a self-promoting vainglorious no-class punk he is, we should applaud the professionalism of the men who are tagged to do that duty and execute without visible complaint.

To be fair, Bush didn't have his hands full with so many scandals. So he could hold his own umbrella.

Also, a point to be made here is the fact that the hand gestures provided by the POTUS, make more sense than the words coming out of his mouth. Do not want to stifle his ability to communicate. :)

What revolts me the most about this picture is obama casually grabbing the Marine's elbow. Absolutely Disgusting.

Wow. Your brain is big. I love it when folks have command of law or obscure regulations. I know it's probably not obscure if you are military, but I'm still impressed.

Now, THAT I could respect. A little humility and respect would go a long way in my opinion of somebody.

Guys, really, I detest Obama as much as anyone on the board but it doesn't take a lot of searching to find pictures of him holding his own umbrella while walking. I question why this press conference had to be held in the Rose Garden during a rainstorm instead of indoors or why some butthead staffer didn't just put up some tarps but it was what it was and the Marines did their duty. A lot of the subsequent responses on this thread are like the idiotic anti-Bush/Reagan photoshopping that the OWS/OFAtards love to do; we're better than that.
