View Full Version : Howdy from Palisade peach and wine country
Lifelong shooter and avid big game hunter looking to learn about AR's from you guys. I've known about this site for years and recognize some names from another forum. I have a few classic battle rifles but never owned an AR. The recent legislative shenanigans have motivated me to modernize. I've started by collecting a couple dozen Pmag 30's and a few Lancer 20's, just need something to run them in.
I escaped the Front Range a couple decades ago but still have a place in the mountains near RMNP. On our farm outside Palisade I grow apples, apricots, peaches and grapes, and we have a small private winery.
Teach me about the AR platform and I'll be grapeful. http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g292/COHummer/Wine%20Making/smileytoast.gif (http://s59.photobucket.com/user/COHummer/media/Wine%20Making/smileytoast.gif.html)

Hello and welcome!
Enjoy!![Beer]
Welcome.
We make it over to your side for the Wine Fest every year.
My first hunting trip to Colorado was up on the Grand Mesa.
Beautiful area you live in.
Welcome. I take a motorcycle trip up there for Peach Fest.

Send some peaches this way!
Hi and welcome!
Got any tips on making a peach tree thrive?
Hiya Grey,
Water it, prune it yearly, thin the fruit, and control pests when necessary. Peaches are pretty easy. Where you live, late spring frosts would probably kill your fruit more years than not.
This spring all the apricots in the valley were lost to frost, most of the peaches made it through OK and we should have a good apple crop.

The Colorado Mountain Winefest (http://www.winecolorado.org/events/mountain-winefest/) is good fun. In years we have a fruit crop we're too busy with harvest to go..... but 6500 visitors to the area help the sales.

Welcome! Great intro. Glad to have you here!
Thanks for the warm welcome, fellows. It's great to have a place to connect with Colorado shooters. I'm still shopping for my first AR, reading all I can about them. Maybe I'll get a chance to try out various AR's sometime--if ammo prices come back down. I have picked up on a few mags in preparation..... [Wiggle]
