My goal for the weekend was to get the Cadillac up and road worthy again this weekend. The tranny pan had a hole in it and spilled all it's guts, the radiator had been rebuilt, just never put back in, and it just needed some TLC. It'd been sitting since about mid summer last year because I never took the time to get it going. I spent the day on it today and it's pretty much good to go, I'll be driving it to work a few times this week.

The wife and I decided since they were both running we'd head out and snap a few shots of the caddy with the truck this evening. The kids wouldn't stay out of the pics, so we made them be part of it.

The truck is a 1961 Chevrolet 3 door, 1 of about 300 made. They were originally made for the railroad and the forest service. It's got pretty much a full custom chassis, air ride, disc brakes, power steering, 22" front wheels, 24" rears, sliding rag top, custom interior, 350 chevy, ect.

The Cadillac is a 1965 Coupe De Ville, I bought from the original owners. 429ci engine, turbo 400, Air ride suspension, 15" astro supremes, tons of pinstriping, ect.

I'm not totally sold on them yet myself, I just can't figure out anything else that would look good.

How'd you get to that location with both vehicles running that low?

theGinsue
05-19-2013, 21:53
How do you not destroy the bodies with them so low and the roads in CO so uneven?

Damn, beat me by a minute.

I'm guessing the air suspension allows you to raise or lower the ride?

RCCrawler
05-19-2013, 21:57
Air ride.

The Caddy at max air pressure is a little higher than stock, the truck doesn't go up quite as high, but good enough for these shitty roads.

In these pics they are both sitting on the frames in the dirt, they can't be driven like that.

Very nice rides!

Is that actual "patina" on the truck?

Fauxtina.

I thought so, personally I think it would look better just all green. Both are sweet rides. I really like the truck.

There is nothing that rides as nice as an Old Caddy coupe with tail fins. Good looking rides you got there.

Excellent Cruizes! The cab of that truck is awesome. Which one do the kids prefer to ride in? My $$ says the truck but the Caddy'd be fun too.

My son loves the truck, and gets mad when we can't take it everywhere we go, but I think overall we all like driving in the Caddy better.

Love the caddy- but a truck ain't a truck if my buddies Audi (race modified) has more ground clearance than it does. Not a fan of "slammed" trucks... But I do love those Classic Cadillacs, especially the Mid-60's DeVilles!

Thanks for the complements guys. I've only had the truck for about a month now, it belonged to a good friend of mine that passed away last month. I'm not entirely sold on the wheels on it, and may be changing them out here soon.

Haha, yep just right up the street from my house. You live in the neighborhood?

Haha, nice. Took my 3 year old son there to check out some different cars, now he wants a Lamborghini because "the doors open up"

Someone else sent me this video with the truck in it too.

Poor cars? I drive the piss out of them, they get everything they need, and they get to sleep inside every night, they've got it pretty good I'd say.
