Me and my ol' man are looking to get away from the pop up and are thinking about a tent. We won't be backpacking or anything real extreme, pretty much out of the truck and set up. Looking for durable and easy to set up. Do any of you have experience with what bass pro offers? I would prefer to look at/ get inside tent so I would rather go brick and mortar vs online for a purchase. also I would like it to have a extra strong floor as we will be using cots (maybe).

If your truck camping, look at Denver tent and awning, or davis tent both have shops here in town. 2 people can set one up in 20 mins, and you can have a wood stove to keep warm on the cold nights. Canvas, will last a long time if taken care of and can be patched fairly easily. Tall enough to stand up in, and you can have a cot if wanted.

Thanks! those look nice but I should have mentioned I'm looking for dome style. Sub $200. Just looking for anyone that has a recommendation for one that has lasted them several years. Not looking for flash.

If your using cots in a dome style tent there will be no room. You need a tent with vertical walls at least 3 feet.
I put carpet in my tent, But I have the cabelas alaknac 12 x 12

I have an REI brand tent - three person XL - whatever it says about number of people it's always minus 1. I can fit myself, a lady, and a dog in a three person XL. Three people would be sleeping almost on top of each other.

I was a bit hesitant to buy the REI brand as I generally buy higher end stuff for backpacking but it has held up well over 3 years of use and abuse and a dog trying to paw through the door when I got up to ski and the lady stayed behind.

You can set up any tent you want at REI and the sales people are very friendly.

I have a REI Half-Dome 2 and it's been great on a few dozen trips. It's lightweight, sturdy, durable, and easy to set up. It's a perfect size for my wife and I.

Ask REI when their next "garage sale" is. This is a quarterly event when they sell the items people return that cannot be sold as 'brand new'. Many of the items are returned after less than a week of ownership for rather mundane reasons (not my color, didn't fit, etc). If you get there early, you can get some great deals.

Other possibilities include Go-Lite (they have a brick/mortar store in Boulder now), as well as Eureka! (not sure where to see them in person but they get good reviews for their price).

If the tent does not have a bucket-type floor in which the floor continues up the wall 4-8", you'll need to seam-seal it - and it's not a terrible idea to go ahead and seam-seal the entire tent. This is not something you want to do during your first outing, do it at home ahead of time on a dry breezy day.

Coleman Outlet in Castle Rock, got a 6 person dome for just a few weeks ago. Or Costco had Coleman 10 Person dome tents for around 200. I always look for the easy set up stuff.

I've used this tent by Remington for years with great luck. That's a "6 person" which is really more like 4 comfortably. 10'x10' and 6' tall. Simple 2 pole design, is up in 3-5 minutes and staked down in a couple more.

I have a smaller REI tent you can backpack with--the TAJ3, and it's easy to put and and has held up over 12 seasons.

Too bad GP small hex w/liner tents are so costly at surplus stores. To me it is one of the best high country camping /hunting tents. Sleeps 5 on cots with room in the center. Once in a while you can pick up them up thru DRMO at http://www.govliquidation.com. It's worth checking now and again.
