I don't know how any woman can live alone and not be armed to the teeth ......

A terrified woman from Josephine County, Oregon, dialed 911 to report that her violent ex-boyfriend is trying to break into her home, but in response she was told that there are no officers on duty to help her. The cash-strapped sheriff’s department in the county had been forced to lay off 23 of its 29 deputies after losing millions in federal aid. The remaining six officers had their shifts slashed to eight hours Monday through Friday.Unfortunately for the woman faced with an out-of-control jilted lover, her 911 call came on a Saturday.

It's extortion, plain and simple. I predict the rise in businesses that offer 'private security' options.

Living in rural areas, you just need to assume you're on your own . . . that dispatcher should have notified State Police. Back when I was in a rural area, it would take an ambulance at least a half hour to show up for an emergency, and police response was even longer.

That 911 call and subsequent letdown by the dispatcher, would've only added credibility to her case if she'd pulled a gun and blown the guy away. Just goes to show the consequences of your actions, when you decide not to arm yourself and rely on the police to swing in on a vine to save you.

AR-15s.... saving scared women one 911 call at a time.

As I always say... the average police response to an 911 call is 27 minutes...the average response of a 357 Magnum is 1300 feet per second.

I wonder which would cost taxpayers more money...

A pump action shotgun, 50 rounds of ammunition, and 10 hours of training vouchers each year, or one full time deputy.

I'm sorry this woman placed her safety into the hands of her elected officials.

Does anyone know if there are statistics on the rates of recidivism by violent felons after they are released from the penitentiary in a wheelchair with a colostomy bag?

It's somewhat higher than the recidivism rate for those sentenced to the cemetery.

A pump action shotgun, ....

Crazy Joe said they should use a double barrel and fire a blast out the front...

....released from the penitentiary in a wheelchair with a colostomy bag?

Do we have to pay guards extra to make sure this happens? Oh wait.. the bleeding heart liberals would say it's inhumane to the criminals.
