Infringers like this fuck need to be hung up by their toes, tarred and feathered. Someone needs to kick his ass. Only build with those you know you can trust and would trust with your rights.

Who reads Mother Jones? Yes, many people do not know that it is legal to build a firearm for your own personal use.

It is much simpler to remove a serial number from a factory produced gun than it is to produce a firearm without a serial number. I do realize that this simple fact is a huge leap in logical thinking. I believe this difficult logical reasoning is beyond the ability of people who are so ideologically opposed to ANY firearm that they just don't care. Simply put, do you think Mother Jones readers care where the gun is made? Guns are evil, and the people who own them are just as evil. This story is just fodder for proving what they already believe about gun owners.

Does anyone read Mother Jones except burned out communist, loser Vegan hippies from the 60's, dressed in ugly hemp clothing, reeking of patchouli because they don't believe in baths or deodorant? Pitiful. At least most of these old fucks will be dead in a few years.

What a tool. Builds a gun, writes a pathetic article full of BS, and then cuts up the gun. Liberals really are fucking stupid. A generalization...but I haven't met one yet to disprove it.
The only plus side out of this- he's the idiot who wasted his time and money. But the bad side, apart from the obvious, that's one less build kit out there. What a douche.

Wow, that author is a real piece of work.

I fail to understand the logic.

Untraceable gun = bad. Why?

It's not like you can run the ballistics on a bullet recovered at a crime scene, track that back to one of 300+ million firearms, trace that back to an original buyer and go and arrest him.

Nor is it possible to reliably trace a firearm found at a crime scene to any owner by serial number, since the original owner may have sold it, gifted it, passed away, etc.

To a liberal it reads as "SEE, this is going on and it's shady, there ought to be a law"

To me I read it as "I'm a douche. Douchieness runs through my veins like blood."

Same way flag burning Obama voting dick heads get on gun boards. They register then subtly infect from within. Make a few friends / acquaintances. Next thing you know they're some ones homie and BAM, Shitz popping up web wide.

I'll see your sarcasm and clever retort ya.

ATF - MFG - Vendor - ffl- original buyer - person sold to - next in line. That's not registration it's following the serial number, just like a stolen car. Only with a vehicle they reverse engineer the process.

Registration would be an investigator at every person who ever owned said firearm's home / business at the same date and time.

Oh, I know, but prove it. Original buyer sold to a guy in a parking lot in 1972, guy sold it to his neighbor, got stolen, sold, used in a crime.

Reliably trace that to the hand that pulled the trigger, you can't without other evidence.

What interests me is the author of the piece is supposedly in Denver but he attended a build party just outside LA and went to go shoot his new POS just outside LA. So which is it? i used to enjoy build parties, now i just build on my own or with a close friend or two. it's a shame that we're made to feel "shady" while we enjoy our hobby. frankly criminals aren't likely going to take the time to build their "untraceable" ak's..... THEY STEAL THEM! (or buy stolen guns)

Speaking of build parties it was so long ago (2007-2008) I have no idea who's house I went to to build my last one. I know it was in denver and in a garage. I do remember the host liked my red furniture.

Having a good time with friends old & new use to be something to look forward to. NOWADAZE it's like having a party and NOT SUPPLYING ALCOHOL . Just because someone left, hit the bar and liquor store, had an accident and can only remember the party you had.[Bang]

Don't sweat it, I saw it more as "hmm, the season for working in the garage with our hands, hammering plowshares into weapons is upon us, wonder if anyone would host again?"

I'll contact some of my friends who I've done builds with before- we may be able to put something together this summer... just not as public, maybe. (maybe a sponsor/referral system, or a form you have to sign that agrees to paying fees for "publishing" information about a private meeting/party of say, $1 per word to each attendee?)

I'm not the type to be concerned as long as there are no false accusations- because there won't be any laws broken... strict rule that once you bend it, it's only handled by you. (but all the tools required will be around in the garage, and people who know how to do it will be talking about how it's done)

Plus I know where there's a garage that is within walking distance of a range... [Coffee]

I hear you... but my philosophy is that whenever you're teaching, tools get broken... I keep a necked-down 5/16" end-mill that I personally broke on top of my mill to remind me... we all have had to learn sometime!
but when I've had people over to learn a new skill, I have actually netted more tools left behind than broken in the past... Offered to return them, but it wasn't worth the drive to them for some reason... [Beer]

If you're not in it for profit (and a host can't be), then loosing a few (inexpensive) tools isn't a problem...

I've sent a PM to some that I know personally from other parties, it's just an idea at this point... maybe it won't go anywhere.

Do I owe you any drill bits?
LOL, I'll answer that with: do you want to pick up your Dremel or your needlenose pliers?
Some may be shocked I remember- but I used your Dremel last week on a cast iron housing that I was welding for my tractor (it was handy to have 2 Dremels, with different bits loaded... so you came to mind recently.)
I'd consider the use I have gotten out of them as payment for any bits you broke... that I didn't demand be replaced (since another volunteer brought them)... so you're still welcome to pick them up!

If this thread was about avoiding publicity about previous events, I think I've failed, [ROFL2][ROFL3]

I forgot about that dremel................lol. And i have no idea what your talking about, with the previous events and all....i just remembered drilling something a little too hard for the bits a bit too fast, repeatedly, without lube - until someone had to bust out with the good bits.

I need to find a decent kit so my kid can finish what he started.....i picked up a sar kit a while back but couldn't pass up the chance to nearly triple my money on gunbroker during a crazy period so it got sold (it's called free market opportunity, not price gouging ;) ).
