Does anyone know of a machine shop in the Denver metro area that has a CNC milling machine with a program to finish an 80% lower? Also what they charge?

Of course, you mean "Also what they charge to let me use the equipment to complete the lower?"

Yep. This just hurts so much. OK, so you want a 80% receiver because it is NOT a firearm right? So YOU buy this "non firearm" and YOU are welcome to complete it. IF a shop had a program to complete the receiver then they would be the MFG and have to have a 07 FFL because they just became the MFG by completing it. Then it requires a ser # and you would have to do a 4473 to get it back because you are now receiving a firearm.
Hope this helps.[Bang][Flower]

If you got an 80% all you need is the jig and a drill press. Google- 80% lower jig..... It will help you finish the trigger well.

This is pretty much your only option unless you want to pay a shop that already has an FFL to complete the receiver for you, in which they will have to put their name, and a serial number on it also, and then sell it to you.... You might as well just go buy a cheap receiver from someone if you are going to go this route. It looks like you should have put a little more thought into your purchase. 80 percenters are for people who will complete the receiver themselves, otherwise, you should have just spend another $40 and got a regular lower.
Is it generally better/easier to finish the lower using a mill if you have one?

Yes, a horizontal mill....

Why a horizontal over a vertical milling machine?

I would suggest opening up the pocket with an oxy/acytylene torch, then finishing it out with a closed coat 9" grinder....this achieves the best, most precise results..

All you need is a dremel, some duct tape and a 12 pack.

I started this thread several months ago and got nothing but a bunch of crap answers. I had investigated the legalities of this extensively but was told by people that obviously didn't know anything about it that I was full of s**t. So I moved on to forums that were more positive for a while. Imagine my surprise when I come back and the first thread in this section is an answer to my question of so many months ago. We finished the first 80% receiver on my drill press two weeks ago and it shoots flawlessly. About 7 more to go.
