"Sight radius" application to glass optics

If a longer sight radius is an advantage when using iron sights, what about optics? Would a red dot or crosshair, for example, be more accurate if a little farther from the eye? Would a scout scope or red dot mounted forward provide a tad more accuracy? The smartest optics guy I know says I'm nuts. What do you say?

No. A red dot would still appear to be the same size relative to your target. Moving it forward or backward is just for your personal preference, but would not affect accuracy in any way.

Scopes with magnification need to be set a certain distance from your eye so that your eye can focus the image through the scope. This is called eye relief. Some scopes have very short eye relief (1-2 inches), while some scopes, such as pistol scopes, may have an eye relief of 16-24 inches. Most rifle scopes have 2-6 inches of eye relief.

Thanks for the info. I will just go with proper relief on magnifying and personal preference on red dot. My experience with optics is limited, so this is helpful.
