LOVE the ones with the rod under water. How'd you get that fish to stay there? Was he on line?

-fish remain hooked until all photos are finished. Otherwise they tend to get distracted and swim away :)

Very cool! Did you have Quib go fishing with you and take photos? Somebody did a damn good job of it!

...not sure who "Quib" is nor am I important enough for someone else to snap my picture, I just keep a camera in the bag and take a few pictures of my own.

How did you take those pictures of yourself?

Quib fills up the majority of the airplane photos thread.

How did you take those pictures of yourself?

-they aren't all of me, some of the shots involve a guy that I fish with occasionally. When photographing fish underwater it easiest to do it yourself as other feet do little other than stir up the silt on the bottom (and most streams are not nearly as clear underwater as they appear from a distance).

Quib fills up the majority of the airplane photos thread.

I'll have to take a look at that, I don't snap too many airplane pic's - www.markpix.com

Yeah, sorry.....Quib is our aircraft photographer extrordanaire. He takes airplane photos that other humans just can't do, almost otherworldly.

I'd love to try me some flyfishing, haven't done any since I caught bluegills on a flyrod when I was a kid back in OK. Looks like another 'spensive hobby, and I just don't get the "catch and release" thing, I come from a "catch and EAT" world. Last trout I had, my stepson caught in a roadside ditch in New York. I fried 'em up for him in some butter with salt and pepper (had no idea what I was doing) and they were AWESOME!

I'm all for fillet & release in saltwater but have never really liked the consistency of freshwater fish. My wife asks why I don't bring any trout home and so I may have to drag a collapsable cooler along one of these days...

Agreed. Filet and release for saltwater and catch and release for freshwater so I can catch them again! However I let all of my rockfish that I caught up in Alaska last week go just due to their slow maturity rate. Both of these fish are about 50-60 years old. The yellow eye can live up to 120 years old. Unfortunately I wasn't able to take as beautiful pics as yours with a shitty cell camera and the roughness of the sea.

Those are quite the fish! Those old slow growers tend to have their share of mercury, so it's just as well you let them slide back into the water.
