Anybody in NorCO want to get together for a Thursday July 4th shoot on at Pawnee Grasslands? Exercise our First and Second Amendment rights on our nation's birthday by peacefully meeting and doing a little shooting.
I am off work that day and would like to get together with you NorCO guys and touch off a few rounds. We can shoot early and still be home with family for BBQ later in the day.

mebbe......
If the wife and daughter are welcome I may be interested. We have been out to Pawnee a couple times in the last few weeks, really dipping into the ammo stash but quality family time can't put a price on that. Well actually you can about .60 a round for .223 lol

I might be able to make it out. I will check back in on this in a few weeks.

Let me know ASAP, I'm sure I can convince the crew at the shop to bring out a few "toys."
fire restrictions are already starting. will Pawnee even be open by then.

Thanks for the replies guys. All are welcome, certainly family. I checked last week and Pawnee was open according to the park service, just don't build a fire.
Same place we have met before and I am planning to be out there around 8 AM to beat the heat, I'll have some pastries and water.
I want to finally shoot my 1903A3, I have acquired some .45ACP so I will shoot my 1911 this time and I will bring some .22s. My wife and daughter may join me as well, see how she feels that morning.
Look forward to meeting anyone that wants to come out for a safe and fun morning celebrating independence and 30 round mag's.
This still on? Where do you guys all meet? We usually shoot way north of most people at a berm we found years ago so I don't know the normal places everybody else goes.

jtav, you might be shooting closer to where I usually go, near the junction of 14 and 90. Where is this 8am meet at? Coords?

I am still going tomorrow and I will hope to be out there by 8:00 AM or earlier (leaving the house at 7:00 AM) Here are directions:
Directions: HWY 14 to CTY road 61, go north (left) on 61 till it t's off at 96
Turn east (right) and proceed to CTY rd 63. 63 is basically a barb wire fence, as is all of the area on the north (left) side. I believe there is signage regarding oil field surveyors on the fence. Head north on 63 until you see my white Ford Expedition, on the east (right) side of the road. I will try to find the place I have met up with other guys from earlier shoots.
I don't have much in the way of targets, I was bringing a couple of 5 gallon steel containers and setting them up at 100 paces (not as far as Quigley but I can't see that far) and some soda cans for close in popping. If anyone else is coming out and have proper target stands for paper targets, that would be great. I am sure that we can be creative and come up with some safe and sane shooting ideas.

I'll bring what I have... along with my tools. Wife and a few different calibers to accompany depending on how much beer we drink tonight.
Edit - I have one tall tgt stand that I made and one short. Stable gun for paper tgts. Anyone bringing a spotter's scope?
"Not as far as Quigley" How about Quatermain?

I went to the same place ?? we went to the last two times (there is a big pile of tires on the left coming in I don't remember from before), got there just before 8:00AM, was the only guy there. I was in my white Expedition with an American flag flying in the wind. Did some shooting (created some ballistic art), a little area clean up and headed out just about 9:30. Met USAFGopherMike at the barb wire gate as I was leaving, we talked briefly and he went in to shoot with his wife and I headed for home and other pre-planned activities. It was nice when I arrived but the breeze came up just after 8:00, made shooting offhand a challenge.
I am up for any Sunday or Monday morning shoot out there so just let me know and I can be there as early as needed.

Myk, what were you guys driving? The wifey and I left around 11, big yellow Dodge. It was great to meet mctriumph, unfortunately it was first time to that spot and we missed the turn before backtracking and running into him as he was headed out. Got the wife behind a shotgun for the first time, the video is youtube worthy for shock and awe alone. :) We're thinking about going back out Sunday if anyone's interested.

EDIT: I will not be going out tomorrow, Sunday. May try again next week.
