View Full Version : Hey Parker area guys!
Didja hear? There's an article in the Parker Chronicle weekly wipe about a groundbreaking for a new 35,000 sq. ft. indoor shooting range and gun shop that's being built on Twenty Mile Rd. and Longs Way, directly across the street from the skateboard park! This is great news, I can walk from my house to there! Gonna be called Freedom Arms Shooting Range, will have 7000 sq. ft. of retail space.
Don' get/read the rag but that's kinda cool if it happens. I've heard talk of that for a long time now.
Who's the operator?
Looks like a family operation, guy named Chris Kamp, his wife and two little girls are doing the groundbreaking in the photo.
I hope they carry reloading supplies!

I talked to them yesterday and they will accommodate rifles as well. I'm excited about this, I can get some range time in on my lunch breaks.
Nice option when BLGC is too cold/wet/snowy.
I don't see any per/hour fees listed.
50% off initiation fee until 9-11-13

I did a drive-by while ago, there's a "coming soon" sign standing there. Awesome! Doesn't look like a very big lot though.

Sounds great. Much closer to me than Centennial. Grey Toyota Tundra with topper and familiar stickers with pheasants forever as well. May be newer black Tundra after next weekend though and will have to start over with new flair.

This fall I think
I'll try to swing by and report on any progress. Last I saw it still looked like a raw lot. Doesn't look like a very big lot either, I have to wonder how it'll be laid out. Maybe I'll get lucky and catch someone there to talk to about it. Gotta go to the Post Office anyway.
Well, I see they've been doing dirt work there, got a big hole dug.
In case nobody's navigated there yet, here's the member fee page:

I'd like to know what's going on with this, looks like the project hasn't been touched for months. Still just a big hole, and the weeds are taking it over
Yup, just a hole. I drove by there coming from USPS last week.
Nothing posted on their FB page since Sep 4.
Probably lost their funding?

Any new developments on this range?
From FB
Due to some unanticipated delays and colder weather, we are looking at beginning construction in the Spring of 2014. THANK YOU! all for your continued support and for your patience. We will be raring to go in the new year! Stay tuned! **Discounted memberships will be extended until May of 2014.**

Cool, thanks for the update! I drive by there every time I go to the Post Office to look for progress.
Any updates on the "Freedom Arms Shooting Range" in Parker?
I'm in the apartments right by there until our house is done being built. I drive by it all the time. Doesn't look like anything is happening at all.
Yeah, I drive by there frequently. They must have lost their funding or something. Doesn't look like anything will happen.

Bummer.
That's too bad. Looks like it was going to be pretty good location. I guess the next closest would be Centennial Gun Club.. but the reviews seem to point to them be sort of douchy when there are bumps in the road..
I sent an e-mail, I will post a response if I get one.
Just drove by. The sign is now torn down. Nothing about a gun store at all.
Sounds like a scam has successfully been executed.
Step 1 - Market a new "Coming Soon!!!" range and get people to pay for memberships at a "reduced" introductory rate via a website.
Step 2 - Put up a sign on a piece of property and dig a big hole to make it look like its actually going to happen.
Step 3 - Take the cash and run.
Step 4 - Thumb through your stacks of cash as you rest on the beach sipping on a margarita thinking back on how easy it was to take advantage of people.
Someone briefly responded to my e-mail.
"We are trying to overcome some hurdles. We will have an update soon."

great I hope it breaks centennial gun center
Not gonna hold my breath, but it would be nice to see it really happen. I'm a member at Ben Lomond and prefer to shoot there, but it would be nice to have a place within walking distance to try out handgun loads or just vent stress.
Project is dead.
From their FB post:
All,
We wanted to give you all an update on the status of the business. Unfortunately we did not reach our monetary goal by the deadline given to us by the Town of Parker. The Town has terminated our project as well as the bank pulling out their funding proposal. We have reached our limit on finding a path for this project and will be putting the land up for sale and moving on to something different. We will see what God has in store for us next! Thank you to all for your support and prayers!
IMHO, they did a piss poor job of marketing the whole thing, but at least they tried.

Saw that today too. Can't say I'm surprised. Last time I was in Franktown Firearms they were talking about building an indoor range there on the SE side of the bldg. Not holding my breath for that either.

We're caught up in a rezoning debate right now where they want to change the land usage surrounding them. That whole chunk of land, they want to change from being zoned for only 5 acre lots to a regular neighborhood with 300+ houses. The problem is we don't have a municipal water source down here, only wells http://savefranktown.com/
So need a shooting range in Parker

There is discussion right now about a new gun range called the Back 40, on chambers south of heirloom.
Outdoor shooting into the backside of the reservoir would be swell...one hell of a backstop already built
Back 40 is a 25,000 sq ft indoor range, but the neighbors don't want it because NIMBY.
Sorry folks, but that's what happens when you buy a house that has commercial zoning within or bordering the development. Just because the space behind your new trophy is "open," doesn't mean it's deeded open space.

Hell yeah! That's close to me, I could dig it! Unless they're totally outta hand like Centennial Guns.....
