Being kind of anal plus believing having the box something came in adds value to a potential buyer if they are looking at 2 of the same item with different asking prices.

SO i can make more storage room IF i shit can all the boxes firearms came in. Save or throw em out ?

I keep them all in case I want to sell them later.

I try and keep them in case I need to send them back for warranty work also.

I just about skinned my wife with a deer antler when she tossed the box my Savage BVSS came in.

I keep the boxes for pistols, but rifle boxes usually get the UPC plackard cut out and the rest goes in the dumpster

...though if I bought it and didn't have it built, I know in about 2 months if I made a bad choice. If I have something more than 2 months I am probably not parting ways with it

I ALWAYS keep all the original boxes and even the shipping sleeves. If you can spare the room, KEEP THEM!!!!!!!

I would tape them back up and sell whatever came in them as "NIB". Maybe put some weight in there or something.

I keep certain boxes that are oddball sizes (laptop, rifle case, etc.) for awhile until the item that came in them is way past warranty. The rest I throw out. I have had to throw a lot out since downsizing unfortunately.

I throw out rifle boxes, keep handgun cases and have kept every electronics box that I've bought in the last 10 years. It's a little hoarderish but I can't bring myself to throw out electronics boxes.

All 35 of them? I still have the packing box my Mak-90 came in, from 90

I keep a few of the plastic ones just in case I sell or need to ship one off and toss, sell or give away the rest, if I kept them all i'd have to apply to be on hoarders.

Just put half of the firearms back in their boxes and ship them to me. Problem solved.

Save for resale, warranty, shipping and PROOF OF OWNERSHIP

"Officer, I have the original container with receipt for that weapon."

Are you talking cardboard box or the plastic case that they came in?

I guess it doesn't matter though, as my answer is keep them both. Whether you plan to sell and ship to an FFL out of state (or even in-state), or if you plan on going hunting or to a competition and need to ship the rifle/shotgun to yourself in another state, the cardboard shipping box could be very convenient to have.

All that aside, hoarding boxes is fun, even if you don't have space! [LOL]

Save them, imagine if you threw out the box the Daewoo came in....
You can always pack other stuff in there while in storage..

For a nominal monthly fee, I will store those boxes in my attic for you.

Having the original packaging can make the difference of hundreds of dollars if you decide to sell the item.

Attics and garages are there for a reason. You don't have to have the boxes sitting around in the house but I definitely wouldn't toss them. Hell, twenty years from now I bet even a Kel-Tec in the original box will fetch a few dollars more than one without the box.

Depends on what it is, how much it cost and what the likelihood of me selling in the future. In most cases I keep them.

If your buying a used firearm and a fricken cardboard box makes a difference you have issues. I save the plastic cases but cardboard gets tossed within a week usually.

I've saved all my NIB rifle/hand gun stuff...thing is, I don't have 35 of them to warrant the question in the first place.

I'd say if there is little to no chance you expect to get rid of any of your stuff anytime soon....shit can the boxes and regain some space somewhere in your home. I like the idea of saving the UPC stuff though.

I have a similar belief in the box thing regarding all of my racing die-cast stuff. Every car displayed has a box for it in storage = shit load of boxes. I will hold on to those boxes because one day I will find a buyer for all this racing stuff, and get it out of here.

I'm with the save plastic ditch the cardboard group, mine go in a keeper in the crawl space. I do keep the cardboard until I break them in.

I save all the boxes/cases because my job requires me to move every few years, and I need all the packaging material that I can get.

True that. as bobby said that K2 / Max II fetches another $300 average with the box.

Still have one of the cases my Grendel P-30 came in (predecessor) to the PMR-30

??????????? Coming from a guy who never kept a firearm more than 1-2 days thinks i have "issues"
btw: hows the new boat, ready to swap motors?

The core issue here is you are not properly hording Jim. Running out of room? Build another storage shed. Save everything and let your grandchildren deal with it. Worked great for all my grandparents anyway.

You've never seen the storage areas we have.

I recently had the same dilemma. It was easy storing them in the basement but while were packing the storage units for our move space became a premium so they all were recycled.

I've been cleaning out my father-in-law's house in San Antonio these past 4 days, and I can say for certainty, your next of kin will appreciate you THROWING YOUR OWN CRAP OUT and not hoarding each and every box in every nook and cranny. Your next of kin won't care if you kept the original box to your TV, DVD player or the stuff you no longer own, or keep crap that doesn't work any longer.
