I'm wondering what determines who gets M16A4 and who gets M4 with M203 or else. Or does it entirely depend on the mission?

Usually dictated by MTOE but it can change mission dictated.

This...
if you are an urban door-kicker, chances are you get an M4
if you are doing paperwork back at the FOB... you probably get a shot out 16 from the early 70s that rattles like an old truck.

I think motor-T gets M4s as well for space limit issues?

Yes they do.
This isn't another try to catch the guy faking marine status thread when you in turn don't really have any knowledge to know yourself is it...

I can only speak to units I was in.
M16A4 are now found in POG units or non combat arms units
Most will have 203,M9 and the basic MG like 249 and maybe a 240( training)
To have M40 you need to have 0317.....
Last unit had 1911 and were force to give them to another unit, so then they gave us M9
Last unit also had full auto lowers on m4 uppers bc full auto triggers have a better feel then the 3 round burst trigger groups among other reason
My buddy a MARSOC and is a supply SNCO and he had glock 19 in his inventory.

I know a lot of us requested the M16A4s and put collapsible stocks on them. A lil more range, the POG guys had the 20lb M4s, ACOG tactifuked out. Guess Marines might be diff
So the Marines issue M16s to POG units? I remember we had M16s until about 9mos before we went to Afghanistan, then the Army decided they were going to start issuing everyone M4s, out of our BDE my BN was the last to receive them (I got to help go pick them up by driving one of the LMTVs) but we still go them. We did a 100% transfer of our M16s- I think maybe the DoD reallocated them to the USMC... [Coffee]

Ummm no. I was attached to 3/1 for our last deployment. A majority of 03's had M16A4s.
All SNCOs had M4s, some junior Marines had them as well. I was a POG and had an M16, my fellow POGs had M4s. I had an M9, while most grunts did not.
Do they get different weapons issued when they are deployed? A friend of mine had a M16A4 that looked like it had seen a few wars already, the upper and lower receivers had no anodizing left, while stationed at home.
A lot of infantry get m16a4's still. Some get m4's. We had m4a1's, m107's, m40a5's, and m110's. Most of us preferred not to have sidearms as we had too much serialized gear to keep track of as it is. Each battalion has their own way of doing things, in 3/1 our fire team leaders got 203's and the second most senior guys in the team got the m249. In 2/9 we had "grenadier" billets if the team leaders didn't want to carry the 203.

I was in the Marine Corps, most of the infantry guys have M16A4's with a smattering of M4 thrown in. Most POGs (like I was) are also issued m16A4 too (now at least). Then you have some other guys who just have M9s mostly, they are usually officers and office worker types.
On my first deployment to Iraq (2006-2007) I was issued a brand new out of the crate M16A2 (I didn't know brand new A2's were still issued). But whenever I went out the wire I had a M249 SAW.
But all of this really depends on unit discretion, it is not universal across the board.

Typically you'll deploy with the same weapon you were issued in the states unless armorers deem that weapon unserviceable.
