Possibilities for the face-mask:
1. You were fishing with super-heroes and you wanted to blend in.
2. You were poaching.
3. You are highly sensitive to the sun.
4. You are such a badass fisherman that you have to disguise yourself from the fish so the word doesn't get out.
5. You were running security for some diplomats out on a fishing trip.
6. Someone else caught that fish and you're pretending to be them.

I've had biopsies done on me for decades. My first malignant biopsy came back when I was 34 and I had surgery for that one on my 35th birthday - an interesting way to spend a birthday to be sure... That was 12 years ago and I've had countless skin cancer surgeries since then, usually two-three per year, my next one is a week away. Both parents had basil-cell carcinoma (dad did his PhD research in the AZ desert, mom loved tanning), and I grew up in the tropics so it was only a matter of time, but as with most teenagers, I felt bulletproof and should have worn sunscreen more often than I did.
Covering up as best I can now will not undue damage from the past, but will hopefully mediate the number of scalpels I face in the future, which will be plenty as is. From what my doctors have told me, skin cancer tends to take about 20 years to do its thing, so the stuff they are regularly hacking off of me now is a result of exposure back in my 20's. This, in hindsight, makes sense as my teens were spent in Southeast Asia in the early 80's and having a tan was a byproduct of my lifestyle at that time, which primarily revolved around surfing/diving/long-distance running (sans shirt).
While a face mask, or 'buff' as they are often referred to, is probably not too common in CO, it's a rare caucasian in Florida on a boat that isn't wearing one. Thankfully the message is slowly getting out to the under-20 set that sun has long-term repercussions.
'Mohs' surgery, where they slice a little, go take a look under the microscope, come slice a little more, go look at that slab, come back and repeat, is about the single most awful experience I've endured (and I've done my time with malaria, typhoid, and a host of other good stuff). If you are light skinned/light haired, sunscreen and a wide brimmed hat are worthwhile investments, regardless of age :)

I'm glad you're doing well in your fight against it and still getting out and doing what you love. My father is in his 60's and he is going through something similar as a result of years of skiing and being outdoors without any protection from the sun.
Good luck next week and thank you for the awesome pics!
I took my soon-to-be 4-year old fishing for the first time. He caught 4 of those little boogers and we didn't catch squat. Glad he had a great time. Grandpa in the background there was pretty excited too. Seeing the little guy catch fish was worth every minute of it. :D

Damn, I need to dig up some of mine. Just a few Northerns this year, and they were small. Some good looking fish so far.
Here's a few.
I started vacationing down in PV a few years ago and got hooked on the salt water fishing. Here's a bunch of Skip Jack Tuna and a Jack Crevelle. The skippies were fun to catch but I later found out they are used for bait. The jacks fight pretty hard!
http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r240/Auger28/4645453889_11231f0653_o.jpg (http://s145.photobucket.com/user/Auger28/media/4645453889_11231f0653_o.jpg.html)
A few years later we hired good guide. Wrong time of year but I managed to catch this Dorado. Tasty!
http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r240/Auger28/DoradoSmall.jpg (http://s145.photobucket.com/user/Auger28/media/DoradoSmall.jpg.html)
Last Feb we booked a Yellowfin Tuna trip. 3 nights on the boat, 90 miles off shore. What a crazy trip. Huge pods of dolphin almost as far as the eye could see, birds slamming bait balls and tuna jumping everywhere. We didn't catch any cows but we managed to catch a bunch (lost count) this size. 4 of us came back with 250 pounds of meat. It's pretty damn sweet to have YFT in the freezer. Made some ceviche the other day, damn good!

Fished out of Puerto Aventuras a few years ago. The fishing started 5 minutes after we left the marina. Within an hour we had a Dorado and this Sailfish. While I was fighting the sail there were 2 dorados and 2 other sails around the boat. The guide was about to toss out another rig, I had to tell him not too as I was getting worked and didn't think I could bring in back to back fish. My wife was starting to get sea sick so we headed in after this pic.

5 years ago we rented a boat out of Whittier AK, camped out for 4 nights and fished the whole time. This was a complete DIY rookie trip. We were able to catch 2 Halibut, a bunch of Yellow Eyes and a bunch of Silver Salmon. Killer trip but my wife will never go back to AK. :)

Im not laughing at the fish or your lack of knowledge of the fish.
As far as your reel set up though.....it is upside down! The spool that holds the line needs to be on the top! That is why I asked!
That's hilarious! But you definitely get props. I have no idea how you were able to cast like that much less catch a fish! That's awesome! Btw your fish appears to be a trout.

Just got back from a 5 day fishing excursion to the Flattops with a few buds. We got just under 70 fish - a few brookies, but all the rest were cuts.
Not my biggest, but the prettiest cut I got. His entire belly was pink..so cool.

Caught this critter while I was fishing in Galvaston, TX a few weeks ago. Definitely cool to say I caught it, but it startled me when I pulled it out of the water.

Yum. I love flounder. That was about the only fish I would actually keep and take home and eat. I would filet it, bake it in the oven with some butter, a little black pepper, and a couple if slices of lemon. We would head down to Crystal Beach (near Galveston) and fish Rollover pass and catch them.

I don't believe that is a flounder.

Stingray, flounder both are good eating once dipped in sweet sour sauce LOL
Got into a school of Sheepshead while fishing off the pier at Rockport, TX public beach day after thanksgiving. They are hard to hook, landed 4 or 5 but went through 20 or so shrimp :). Was using smallest hooks I could and a stinger by the end.

I wasn't the only one fishing though.

Yeah, we were going to go to Rollover Pass, but the weather was crap that day so we opted not to drive that far and just head to Galvaston Bay. After the stingray, I caught a small whiting and had to send it back out. I was the only one who caught anything. Beginners luck I guess.
The Lake Trout were caught on Lake Granby, the Rainbow on Horsetooth and the Mahi Mahi in Aruba.

The wiper was at Bonny before the drained it, Grrrrrrrrr and the Mahi mahi was in Costa Rica.

I really started focusing on sight fishing about 2 years ago and it really helped in finding the big boys.

Thought it was just fishing pic's! Didn't know we were sticking to only Colorado fish.

Sight fishing?? Thats when you actively look for fish in a river (polarized sunglasses are a must) then cast directly to that fish. fish in rivers are lazy, they find a good spot and wait for the current to bring food to them. generally speaking they don't like to move far for a meal so putting flies directly in front of them suits their feeding habits. Don't get me wrong. blind casting into suspect water produces fish to but sight fishing really increases your catch rate.

-no need to stick to CO fish, I simply miss saltwater and wish we had fish like that here...
