Organizers staunchly opposed to the policy decisions of Sen. Angela Giron (http://blogs.denverpost.com/thespot/topic/sen-angela-giron/)on Monday plan to sumbit more than 13,500 signatures to the secretary of state (http://blogs.denverpost.com/thespot/topic/secretary-of-state/)’s office in an effort to drive the state lawmaker out of office.

Giron, a Pueblo Democrat, is the focus of a recall (http://blogs.denverpost.com/thespot/topic/recall/)effort for her support this past legislative session of new gun-control laws that do everything from require universal background checks on all firearms sales and transfers to limits on ammunition magazines.
Organizers vying to oust Giron had to submit at least 11,285 signatures to the secretary of state’s office — which is the total needed for verification to move forward with a recall.
“Giron’s disregard for the majority of her constituents to vote no on anti-Second Amendment issues and her general disregard of our Constitution and the rights of the citizens of Colorado demonstrates she must be removed from the senate.” Victor Head, President of Pueblo Freedom and Rights (http://blogs.denverpost.com/thespot/topic/pueblo-freedom-and-rights/), said in a statement.
Head’s organization has been gathering signatures in Giron’s Pueblo District 3 since April. The number of signatures the group plans to sumbit is a about 2,300 more than they need, which is still not much a cushion when it comes to gathering enough signatures for verification.
Giron now joins Senate President John Morse (http://blogs.denverpost.com/thespot/topic/senate-president-john-morse/) as state lawmakers who are fighting for their political careers.
Organizers in the recall of Morse, a Colorado Springs Democrat, need just 7,178 signatures to force a recall election and turned in more than twice (http://www.denverpost.com/politics/ci_23425186/sen-john-morse-recall-questions-swirl-signature-verification)that figure last Monday. The secretary of state’s office is expected to announce by Friday the total number of signatures verified.
Giron said in a statement Sunday night, “Over the past several months I have been out in the community and what I do know from speaking with my constituents is they support the work I’ve done. … They know I’m a strong supporter of the Second Amendment and that the bills passed this session were carefully written to strike a balance between protecting our communities and families, while respecting the rights of gun owners.”
Giron plans to hold a news conference at the Colorado Democratic Party headquarters in Denver Monday afternoon.

Typical Communist Rag DP line: "The number of signatures the group plans to sumbit is a about 2,300 more than they need, which is still not much a cushion when it comes to gathering enough signatures for verification." <sic. Bad grammar/spelling too, but this statement without the mistakes is a typical line to try to dissuade or state "it might not work." Good for them. Still waiting on Nicholson's recall effort to begin.

I love how she goes out in the community to talk to the people and tell them that she is a protector of the Second Amendment. Even though she doesn't mention the Colorado version that she also took a piss on. She still tells everyone its just rain. Her actions don't match up with her words and if it she knew what she actually was voting for she wouldn't have to lie about it and could say it was an attack on the second amendment and she knew what she was doing.

I hope the 2300 is enough cushion. Met some of the Pueblo Freedom and Defense guys this weekend and they were being very careful on the signatures they collected. I hope they're successful ... we need to demonstrate there's a price to be paid for ignoring their constituents.

If things were perfect she would be out and a defender of freedom would be in. However, how did a gun grabber like her even get into office to begin with? What is the chance we will get someone better to replace her?

I'm thinking there is some voter fraud going on or we are really to stupid in first place to legitimately vote her into office. I think its the former.

Republican George Rivera is ready to fight for Pueblo Democratic state Sen. Angela Giron's seat if the gun-rights community's bid to have her recalled is successful.
Pueblo Freedom & Rights, a local pro-gun rights activist committee, has spent the past couple of months gathering signatures on a petition to recall Giron, largely due to her votes on gun-control measures in the Senate.
The signatures have all been collected and will be handed over to Colorado Secretary of State Scott Gessler's office today. Voter signatures totalling 11,200 are needed and if they are verified and hold up to challenges, Gov. John Hickenlooper will call for a special election sometime in August or September.
At a community meet-and-greet at Mitchell Park on Sunday, Rivera said he was one of the people who signed the petition to recall Giron.
"I signed it because I felt the laws that were being passed were an infringement on my right to possess a weapon," Rivera said. "There's a combination of things I disagree with but the gun issue was the straw that broke the camel's back."
Rivera said requiring background checks for nearly all gun buyers won't be effective.

Giron striking balance where none was needed and not standing firm on 2A.

Funny you'll never catch a Democrat wanting to strike balance with abortion even if that saves the life of one child.

Will be contributing to Mr. Rivera in the near future.

I’m a strong supporter of the Second Amendment and that the bills passed this session were the only thing we could find on short notice. thank god to Bloomberg having these ready to go because that crazy Ho in aurora could not even spell "magazine" to save her EBT card.

They told us to say that it will strike a balance between protecting our communities and families, while respecting the rights of gun owners and it is nothing but "common sense compromise". We all know that the bills are so badly written that all it does is put another nail in the coffin to further the agenda that they paid me to support.

Fixed it for ya.[Flower]

Bet she is sorry she voted against a civil right now. She is going to have to get a real job.

Yes! An excellent first step but there's a tough road ahead and very little time to muster voters to remove an anti gun dem who opposes real power in the hands of the people. To allow her to win would be a terrible defeat for our civil rights. It will require exceptional effort by Second Amendment advocates to be successful with these recalls.

Good on the voters in district 3, any public servant who acts against the will of the voters should be removed immediately.

Kudos for completing first step.

Isn't that the point of the recall? You can't just fire a state senator.

Great job.....what can we do to help now?

1. Donate money for the recall election fight. They're gonna need yard signs, bumper stickers, etc. to get the word out.
2. Donate time by helping them talk to voters before the election so Giron doesn't gather a bunch of uninformed voters to support her against recall.
3. Donate time by helping them get pro-recall voters out and to the polls.
4. Donate time by helping them watch for fraud at the polls. This is a jurisdiction that openly stored ballots out of camera shot, took ballot boxes home over night, etc.
5. Write letters to the editor at the Denver Post and Pueblo Chieftain explaining why their anti-recall editorials are full of fecal matter and why these cretins should be removed from office.
6. Talk to anyone you know in her district about how important it is they vote for the recall and convince their neighbors and friends to vote for the recall as well.

Oh yeah, do all the above for Senate District 11 against Morse too. ;)

Hmmm .. post 1500. Yay. :D

Was that a firm or soft decision?

I think we should have the right to walk into their office, grab them by the ankles and drag them down the front steps of the Capital, ensuring their gourd bounces off of each step cartoon style.

Then sodomize them with a turpentine soaked corncob.

Sideways.

Then we can bat clean up with a welders twisted bristle stainless steel brush on a cordless drill.

That way they can feel what it is like to be one of their constituents.

http://coloradopeakpolitics.com/2013/07/02/thug-life-criminal-working-for-giron-front-group-arrested-after-harassing-petition-signer/

While defenders of anti-gun Senators Angela Giron and John Morse have been trying to smear recall organizers as sex offenders and criminals, it turns out a worker for Senator Giron’s front group actually does have a criminal record.
On Saturday, a Giron worker who was trying to intimidate a recall petition signer into removing her name from the petition had the police called on him.
Reports the Pueblo Chieftain (http://www.chieftain.com/news/politics/1391843-120/recall-giron-percent-petitions):

Giron’s campaign sent out a press release apologizing for an incident Saturday where a campaign worker tried to persuade an East Side woman to remove her name from the recall petitions. Her boyfriend apparently intervened as well as a neighbor and as the voices got louder, police were called to the home in the 1600 block of Bunker Hill.
It turned out the Giron worker, Elric Franco, was wanted on an outstanding warrant for contempt of court on a criminal mischief charge. He was arrested and also dismissed from the campaign.
When people charge the Giron campaign with Chicago-type tactics this is what they are talking about. Between Giron’s donor handing out cash to protesters (http://coloradopeakpolitics.com/2013/06/13/exclusive-explosive-video-shows-giron-protesters-being-secretly-paid-in-cash-harassing-recall-organizers/) who were harassing the recall organizers and now criminals trying to intimidate recall petition signers, it’s clear the tactics of Tammany Hall (http://thecoloradoobserver.com/2013/06/our-view-tammany-hall-tactics-come-to-colorado-in-recall-races/) have come to Colorado.
UPDATE: Media Trackers has much, much more (http://mediatrackers.org/colorado/2013/07/02/supporter-of-colorado-state-senator-angela-giron-arrested-while-canvassing) on this incident.

According to witnesses, Franco was arrested after an attempt to intimidate a resident who asked what he was doing in front of his house.
The owner of the house that Franco stood in front of had not signed the recall petition and was completely unaware of both the recall and the anti-gun legislation. When the owner asked why Franco was standing in front of his yard, Franco reportedly replied “it is none of your business you are not on the list, don’t worry about it.” Franco reportedly went on to tell the home owner to go back inside his house.
The back and forth between the Giron canvasser and the home owner escalated and Franco became verbally abusive to the home owner telling him to “get back in your [expletive deleted] house.”
According to the home owner, Franco then threatened to call the police on him and made a phone call. The home owner waited twenty minutes for the police to show up and when they didn’t, he called the police himself. Before the police arrived on the scene, Franco’s campaign coordinator arrived and began to take pictures of the neighbors and the home owner who confronted Franco.
For pictures of the arrest taking place and more potentially explosive information on a Giron campaign worker returning to the scene of the crime to photograph license plates and homes of people who complained, read the full story at Media Trackers Colorado (http://mediatrackers.org/colorado/2013/07/02/supporter-of-colorado-state-senator-angela-giron-arrested-while-canvassing).
