I shoot it and it still works as good as the day my great uncle picked up from the sands of Africa. Does any one else have a old rifle they like to shoot or a story they want to share.

I have what I believe to be a German bolt action 12 gauge shotgun I picked up for $20 about 40 years ago. I probably lessened any value on it since I refinished the stock back then. It's a great shotgun for bird hunting due to the low weight and great balance.

That's what I'm talking about. A .410 shotgun is a good gun and it shoots 45 LC too so its got some diversity.
A little more to the story; my uncle acquired it had to duffel cut the stock to get it into his bag and then pretty much left it for the next 40 years. When he passed away my father got all of his guns willed to him as well as a 40's era ford pick up.

The Mauser was sitting on the front seat with the front of the stock still wired to the barrel complete with bayonet. My dad stuck it into the closet and forgot about it. A few years later I found it and acquired it with his permission. And decided to get it back together.

There was a case stuck in the chamber which made me think that he hadn't shot this since WWII. I did a full cleaning and epoxied the front of the stock back on. I didn't do anything about the finish on the rest of the rifle.

Now a days I have have to back together and I shoot it regularly with the rest of my toys. I gets a better cleaning though since most of the ammo available for it is corrosive.

I will add pictures as soon as I find some.

That is a nice collection. I want to pick up a NM one of these days. It seems like a better gun to turn into a long range shooter than my Mauser. I guess I could post something about buying one here. But cash is in short supply but maybe someone would up for a trade?[Dunno] I would like to pick up some of that cheaper ammo for it since it seems to be more available than .22lr these days.

Oh well, thanks for sharing guys. Do you have any pictures?
