I'm looking to get started shooting some matches this year and have a few questions concerning the classification systems. There are three classifier dates listed for the '09 season on the "Popper" website. Since one would need to shoot four classifier in order to be classified. How would one get classified during the '09 season? Would it be possible to shoot a classifier match more than once?

I may be wrong, and I am SURE someone will be along to correct me if I am.
I have not looked at the popper site, but the three dates you see, are probably matches that are ONLY classifier stages. All 4-5-6 stages are classifiers. Shooting those matches, you can get classified in one day.
Throughout the year, there is usually "one" classifier stage at every match.
Attend 4 matches, and you can get your 4 classifiers in.
AND.........welcome to the forum.
Thanks for the info!![Beer]
Pickenup hit it on the nose. The only thing other than what he posted is the first time you go to a match you have to attend a safety class before the match starts. Just let us know when and where you will be attending your first match and the club will put together a safety class about an hour before the match starts.

You do need an Intro to IPSC class, but Pueblo is the only club that puts one on right before the match. We think that a 1.5 hour class at the range followed by a hands-on "test" is a good way to go. And we (Pueblo) do not charge for the class or your first match.
There are also a couple terms that can cause confusion. Classifier Match and Qualifier match.
A Classifier match has more than one USPSA Classifier stage, usually four. All of the stage results get sent in to USPSA and you can get classified in one day assuming you are a USPSA member. Non USPSA members can not earn a classification.
Remember it takes a while (up to 4-5 weeks sometimes) for the results to get input to USPSA and then for USPSA to do their monthly database update. The local match results might be listed on the USPSA site, but your classifier score can take a while.
A Qualifier match is a special match that every club in Eastern Colorado puts on once a year. It does two things. Most importantly your match scores decide who is good enough to earn a slot to USPSA Nationals. It also goes to the year end plaques for who the Best in the section is/was in all the different classes and divisions.

When you signed up for the IPSC list, did you get a confirm email back saying do you really want to sign up?

Dont have a clue. Try emailing the ECOUSPSA webmaster and the SC, Roger Briden.
Now that you mention it. I couldnt get it to work with my mesanetworks account. Gmail did work.
Thanks for all the replies, now I just have to wait for all my equipment to arrive. Hopefully I can make the Feb safety class.

It came from the Eastern Colorado USPSA results list, *not* from uspsa.org.
