My favorite part of the article : "We all here have a great responsibility to build a gun that someone's son, daughter, father, or mother will use not only in defense of our country, but in the defense of their lives," a sign said. "Failure is not an option."

(F I felt dirty going to CNN, their libtard commenters need to be slapped in the face with the dick they so much love)

Glad my one and only AR is a COLT! Now I just need a Colt 1911 and an original Colt 45.

I'll be happier if they move out of CT.

The sign at the door of the Colt factory displays a gun with a slash through it: "No loaded or unauthorized firearms beyond this point."
So, the Colt factory is a gun free zone? [Coffee]

Nice to see a company stand on principle for a change.

The liberal comments on there are sickening.

TL;DR- at least not all of it, but I did get a sour taste in my mouth with the leftist slant (no surprise being CNN)... God bless COLT! Having used one in BCT and being issued a Colt M16 before trading it in for a Bushmaster M4, I have to say that I do like Colt and would love to own one someday. [Beer]

I'd be happier if Malloy gave himself a Zippo fuel enema right before joining the firefighting crews in Black Forest.

"Unauthorized" is the key word here. Schools could ditch the whole crackpot idea of "gun free" zones and still post a sign that says "Unauthorized" guns are not allowed. Authorized guns would be CCL and guns possessed by approved faculty members.

The place is full with guns... not sure how the gun free zone comes in :P

I think it probably is to keep separation between employees personal weapons and the ones they build. Probably had some disappear over the years or had parts walk away due to dishonesty. This way there is no question that any weapon inside the building belongs to colt and any weapon outside belongs to the employee. Unfortunately I had to go through something similar that took quite a while to get cleared up many years ago.

Well, if a bad guy comes in, pick up a M16A4 and blast him. You don't need to risk having your gun confiscated by the police for evidence, which they usually won't return for a year.

Sorry, I will never support Colt. In the past they have publicly stated that their firearms are only for LE and Govmnt and they don't want their firearms owned by civilians/citizens.'

They can stay in Liberal CT

What?

It's not new news. This is also one of the reasons I don't own anything made by Colt.

Realiable source?

This was the 90's so it's going to be difficult to link you to some online source. It's pretty well known and Colt even stated they were no longer going to sell to civilians in order to focus on military and LE contracts as well as developing something called the 'smart gun' whatever the eff that is. I guess the 'smart gun' ended up being the semi-auto version of their rifles. lol

Forgot to mention Jer before the Assault weapons ban off '94 COLT voluntarily (no law enacted) made changes to their Colt Sporter (AR's) rifles with the sear block and other things, this was too try and appease the anti gunners with worries an AR could be easily converted to full auto by dropping in a M16 trigger set up.

After the Ban I remember the stop selling to civies because my dad thought his pre ban COLT HBAR was going to be worth a lot of money soon, COLT didn't stop selling to Civies for long though. Others stepped up and made better AR's.

If I remember right Connecticut had a stake in COLT for awhile as well, COLT almost went under a few times?
State's Big Stake in Colt Clouds Debate on Guns (http://www.nytimes.com/1992/07/05/nyregion/state-s-big-stake-in-colt-clouds-debate-on-guns.html)

I personally do not see why a COLT is better than anyone else's AR and to avoid a wishy washy manufacture over the course of the last 20 years I will take my money elsewhere thank you.
