View Full Version : Wife home alone...and the doorbell rings
So, here's my senerio.
We live on a farm in the middle of nowhere Bennett.
Mrs. is in the garage, looks out the window and see's a guy walking in our ditch,
smoking a cigarette (its dry/windy/99 degrees...obvious he ain't too bright)
He now turns and walks down our driveway, towards the house. She bugs inside and calls the cops.
Now the guy rings the doorbell...she doesnt answer the door (like I told her!)
Then, he moves down the front porch, and is peeking into the 2 windows....and walks away.
I'm on the phone with her right after he rang the doorbell.
I asked her, "Get my gun!!"...her reply...."I got the ugly bitch"
Cops stopped the guy (10 minutes later) down the road. Story he told was "I was looking for work
and selling smokes"...Again, we are in the middle of nowhere....in 10 years, the bell has rang less than 10 times.
The kicker is, she grew up with NO firearm exposure= she was scared to death of my Daisy Red Ryder for years.
Slowly, I taught her to understand/learn about them. Just 2 weeks ago, I/her spent 200rds. through the "ugly Bitch"
and she was hooked!
My point is, make sure YOUR loved ones know/respect and can use them to protect life & home, when you're not there.
You never know when shit will hit the fan.......[shithitsfan]

So whats the "Ugly Bitch ?
Whew- good thing you spent some time with her and the Ugly Bitch. That could have been a horrible situation.
What the hell was this asshole doing, smoking a cigarette while walking in the ditch?!
Sounds like it may be time to make your place look a little less friendly. Barbed wire. a "We Don't Call 911" sign displayed prominently near the driveway. A "beware of dog" sign, and a couple of gigantic mounds of dried poo near the edge of the property, making them wonder just how big that dog is...

That my friends is a KEEPER.

I rated the thread 5 stars... that's the "awesome" button!
Stone83, you need to buy her something, take her out to dinner- whatever you know speaks to her the most that you really appreciate her!
She did everything right, faced her fears and it all turned out well in the end- I don't buy his 'story' one bit. (I get the impression you believe him just as much)
Reminds me I need to train my wife on more of my "ugly bitches" than just the one she's comfortable with...
explain to her that "yeah, it's scary looking- imagine how much the guy that wants to rape our daughters will crap himself when he sees it pointed at him!"
I shared the with my wife...thx and glad she's didn't open the door

My wife is trained to grab her Colt AR-15 9mm or UZI when I am not at home and freaks knock on the door.

I travel A LOT for work. When I'm away my girl sleeps next to my .45 on my pillow. I have her trained well.
Awesome! Text book material on what to do when an "undesireable" comes a knockin'. Oh and yes, pics of the "Ugly Bitch" are in order. Thank you for posting this.

12 gauge pump is next to the door, she never unlocks the deadbolt. If the door is tampered with she knows what to do.
She is very level headed.
Getting my wife comfortable with firearms and wanting to not only learn to shoot them but taking the necessary steps to legally conceal carry and making life changes (read: parting with her fancy purses) to be able to conceal everywhere was one of the best things that could have ever happened to my stress.

Still waiting for what the Ugly Bitch is?
Agreed ... it's poor netiquette to post something like I asked her, "Get my gun!!"...her reply...."I got the ugly bitch" and not post a pic :p
(good job stone's mrs anyway)
So in for the "ugly bitch."

Perfect name for a gun! Love it!
Tell her great job and to keep that ugly bitch handy!
Perfect name for a gun! Love it!
Need to get that on a dust cover!
Now what is the "ugly bitch" OP?!?!?!!!!! [fail]
I've reported the OP for not having revealed what the ugly bitch is by now.
The only time my wife ever answers the door with a gun is when she's pissed off at me...

TROLL! Oh, wait. Was that YOU, skulking in the ditch and peeking in windows, Drummer? Are you a keyhole-peeper?No. He/she is the home renter that will invite the sketchy dude into their trailer, feed them, blow them, and then cry for help when the guy holds them at knife point for what little more drummer is worth. Oh, and then he'll blame it on guns.

I bet he is one of those hippie trampers around Foco old town, using public library computers to troll the internet.

Not bad, it will be pretty with a A2 front sight. Just my opinion.
See, that doesn't match the gun I had envisioned for an "ugly bitch". That's a rather sleek, efficient-looking rifle.
To me, "Ugly bitch" sounds like a big-ass, chunky revolver....
Thanks for the picture! Googling "ugly bitch" didn't bring up anything remotely like that. [Coffee]

Quite a nice looking rifle actually.. I was picturing something similar to Mike's "'Lil Bitch"
That's a hell of a scope for a home gun.

THAT is perfect! A junkyard dog of a home defense revolver, well-used and familiar. I love it.
Wow, that's a LOT cooler than a 1970s Charter Arms Bulldog 44 . . . I've never seen a snub 1917 before.

Man...didn't the mods flush that turd once already? For the love of God and all that is Holy...kill it with fire and flush it FOR GOOD!

I just threw up in my mouth a little. A2 front sight is so last year's fad. Flip ups are the modern, tacti-cool accessory now...DUH!

Its an awesome piece ... dug around and found the thread on the Colt forum (http://www.coltforum.com/forums/colt-revolvers/34688-colt-1917-fitz-special.html) that the owner posted (that's the before pic ... he did a little work on it)
Really wish I'd have nabbed a couple 1917s (S&W or Colt) back when you could get them dirt cheap.
He didn't make it too pretty ... still a good "workin' gun".

Sorry for the thread hijack.
Aw. I kind of preferred the wood handle and electrical tape...
I really want one of those guns.

Good job, kudos to the wife for her situational awareness, and her reaction.
