You gave me cross streets and I know what your truck looks like.

I will just show up in that area of your truck and start yelling; "Wheres the old deaf guy?!"

Sorry I didn't get a picture of the final product as it looked/smelled delicious and we were all hungry. It turned out awesome and I can't wait to do it again to tweak the original recipe I went off of to make it even better.

Looks awesome jer. I think it needs crawfish!

Looks awesome jer. I think it needs crawfish!

That bag right in the middle is raw, de-veined & split shrimp. The people I was cooking for weren't really crawfish people so I did the shrimp instead and it was quite good. Next time I might just do a mixture of both but either way there will be a LOT more seasoning. I bought a seasoning box from Zatarains that was a mesh back with all the seasons you need for a boil and I just didn't like it. I think that two or maybe even three of these would have been sufficient seasoning but even then I'm not sure I liked the flavor profile it added. In all it was yummy and I'm excited for how much better I think I can make it the next time around since this was the first time I had ever tried it.

Edit: That's one of the differences between a Cajun broil and a Low Country Boil as the former uses crawfish and the latter uses shrimp so I think I was going for the latter. Either way, it was damn yummy. lol

It certainly did not suck. The best part is we have enough food left over that I get to do it again tonight!

Hmmm, I haven't done a cajun boil in a while now. I usually go with a bottle of liquid seasoning and a McCormick bag o' spices. I do my boils out on my beer brewing burner in a cheap turkey fry pot. [Dinner]

I grilled a 3 lb tri tip, stuffed portabello mushrooms and corn on the cob. They were paired up with a Mixed greens salad and home made garlic bread.

If you haven't tried tri tip I highly recommend it. The trick is to get a 2.5+ lb roast and seer it on both sides then cook it at 325 until the internal temp rest 130-135. Wrap it with foil and let it read for at least 15 minutes before cutting and serving.

I may try some liquid seasoning but I like when there's dry spices just caked all over the ingredients so I'm trying to find something I can add that will do that. I may do something like the bag o' spices you speak of (I didn't like the Zataran's version) and then season after it's out of the water too. Dunno. I'll have to play around with the details a little to get what I'm going for. BTW, that pot on the left in my picture is a turkey fryer. I wanted electric for numerous reasons and it worked fantastically for doing a cajun boil indoors which was one of those reasons.

I do mine outside because of a wee boil over once on the stove. The dogs were happy licking the kitchen tile at least. [LOL]

[LOL] That's a good reason. This fryer fills less than halfway so it would be difficult (impossible?) to boil over. That's part of why I went with a larger electric fryer versus open flame/gas.

Reading this thread made me all hungry again :)

Didn't end up crashing anyones BBQ. Had a fun day though with the kids hiking and hanging out.
