So how far would we have to set up a table and EZ-Up to offer better prices on collectible guns without falling afoul of the Boulder PD?

This will be going on not far from me. I will take an old BB gun down there and get a feel for the entire operation.

Aloha, maybe we should organize a buy-back. We'll set up a table with a big sign that says "GET GUNS OFF OUR STREETS" or "GET GUNS OUT OF CRIMINALS' HANDS"

We'll buy them for pennies on the dollar and add them to our personal collections, thereby getting the guns off the streets and out of criminals' hands. :D

More people means more money pooled and therefore more guns bought back. "OK sir, you have that mean and vicious looking Colt AR, let me give you a $100 Wal Mart gift card. Yes, you have a nice day too." [Coffee]

"The No. 1 thing people say is that people are desperate to get a gun out of the home because it's a threat to safety," she said. "People sneak them out of the house. The reality is those people don't care what they make."

People SNEAK them out of houses? If my wife/girlfriend/significant other/kids are STEALING my guns and giving them to the sheriffs office, we are going to have a BIG problem...

Does that make these buyback a-holes accessories to grand theft?

I'm game but I'd really rather take advantage of protect uninformed Boulder citizens from themselves and rescue war vets like old Garands, 1911s and 1903s from the crusher. Somehow I think we'd get fewer idiots respondents in Colorado Springs anyway ...

Background checks will need to be completed.

I'd like to see someone get an injunction against this on the grounds of church/state separation. After all...a "multi-faith" coalition holding an official event on the grounds of publicly owned property? Oh, the huge manatee!

That would be taking a page right out of the liberal/progressive playbook.

Can I use those gift cards on ammo if and when they get it?

"In large part, we see handguns as a significant public safety issue in Boulder, in the U.S. and the world."--I'm sorry, with the execption of Boulder's finest shooting an elk in a city park, is there a frequent incidence of "handgun crime" in boulder that we're not hearing about?

"Faith Leaders"
LOL

In other words a bunch of do gooders that have no faith in themselves trying to change the world.

So...they have to have an FFL there doing background checks and paying the fee for every transfer OR the deputies are on duty and being "paid" by a church.

Hmm. I bet that they try and claim that the deputies are on duty and no FFL is needed and that the deputies getting "paid" by a church doesn't conflict with the church/state separation thing.

True. Rescuing those beautiful old war vets would be a priority.

Background checks will need to be completed.
Of course! How many firearms can you get on one 4473? [LOL]

very good points... In all seriousness, I hope these guys get schwacked if they break any laws.

Wonder if they will do like the police did in another city and if you get in line you are not allowed to leave with your firearm. Doesn't matter if you agree to their payout.

I think I need to take my pistol bb gun that is busted to them and see what I can get. If it works and I can make money I'll hit up every wal mart! Gotta capitalize!

I wish I knew how much they were giving away for a gun. I have a gun worth $35 in working condition, and it's broken. If I can get $100, I may just drive up there.

Leftist liberals, useful idiots, and gangmembers should turn their guns in.

So do we have an FFL here on the boards that will set up with their laptop and do $15 background checks on us that end up attending the event to purchase?

It's not 7/1 yet... What's this need for a ffl?

The new socialist anti-gun laws kick in 7/1....
This horseshit is in August.

So, if they do buy an idiots guns(s), isn't there a "requirement" that the "Private firearm transaction" require a backgroud check
and some kind of paperwork????................[sheepshagger]

Not since the BCSD is involved. It should be illegal for the BCSD to sponsor such events.

This is why we have a local FFL on the boards "sponsor" the "citizen" buy back and set up a laptop and do the transfers for people on site. I sure would hate to see some WWII bring backs end up in the chop saw...

I remeber rading about a buy back from another city and the city turned around and some of the guns. (The city figured out that they had some collectors firearms and were worth some money)

Yeah, great, advertise it 2 months ahead of time so more fricken thieves can go out and steal more guns from honest owners to turn in and have the evidence of their crimes both legally fenced and destroyed for them. Great plan assholes.

Set up shop and buy any guns worth while for more than the buy back is offering. I might head on down.

Hey... I have an idea for those on the board with FFL's... You better show up to this and buy these guns! You have an FFL so if you go through your business, you should be able to get around the July first bullshit, right? I'm not sure..... OR*** have you own buyback at your shop! Actually, why not do a gun buyback at someone's shop? Really, it wouldn't be that hard........ Seriously, tell the public that all "assault weapons" will be handed directly over to the police for mandatory destruction. Then, just hand in the full auto's if someone brings one in..... lol

After July 1st, wouldn't all gun buybacks have to go through an FFL? If so, I see a lot of this crap ending.

Nah, liberals don't have to follow the rules because they're doing it "for the children". Laws like using an FFL for all transfers are for right-wing peons like you and me.

I have a FFL. To receive weapons in as an FFL, there is no 4473. Just name and address. You just need a space to set up near by where the BCSD isn't going to be less than understanding.
