Brother said he lost interest and was just going to let it rot so he gave it to me. Same brother also pretty much gave me an AK once upon a time. Needless to say I owe him BIG TIME. Anything anytime anywhere.
On to the jeep, its a 96-97 Grand Cherokee. 318 V8, Forrest Green with gold pinstriping (big pimpin lol) and decals. Rubicon express 6 inch lift, 33 inch TSL Swampers, Tompkin Machine steel front/ rear bumpers, ARB lockers, 456 gears, Super 30 kit in weak front axle. Fenders have been generously massaged with a sawzall/cut off wheel. Thing looks pissed off just sitting in the driveway.
I brought it home on a trailer because my brother said the steering box was near death. Once I got it off the trailer I couldn't help drive it down the street and back. The streering felt fine to me but never drove more than 15 mph. Once licensed and insured I'll have it looked at before taking it anywhere.
Already have the bumpers off so I can patch a couple of holes and repaint flat black again. Rear door latch needs fixed and some seat covers over what used to be leather seats. Also thinking of replacing the transfer case with a 4:1 NP231. Not that I want to do anything crazy I just like to do it slow. It is an Automatic and I've never wheeled in anything other than a stick shift so I'll see what it's like first. I can't wait. I need to figure out where the first trip is going to be.
Also this is what kept me happy even though my wifes XJ cherokees fuel pump died at Tarryall Res on Fathers Day. There wasn't anything that could be thrown at me to take away my happy, and what timing on having to rent a trailer. I'm off to go buy some lotto tickets.
