I have an old Maytag (A482 model, 2-belt, top-load) washer that won't drain. It will spin, seems to go through all its cycles fine. NOTE: one weird thing is that it doesn't seem to always 'stop' at the end, it wants to go onto the next wash cycle after it does it's final spin...

I've replace the pump & belts, checked the hoses & tub for clogs, checked the siphon break (doesn't look plugged) and it will drain just a bit of water out, but not much...

Any ideas? Could it be the timer or some control unit? Motor? There aren't many parts in this thing, it's pretty simple...

Thanks!

Sounds like the timer to me, but I just tinker with this kind of thing, no expert.

If you replaced the drain pump itself then I would guess timer, but it is only a guess. My front load LG did that and replacing the drain pump was the solution. Good luck!

I'm no help. I'd probably buy a new one, shoot up the old one then take it in for scrap

My FIL owns an appliance rental company. He is always doing repairs. He is whirlpool certified but im sure they are all pretty similar. PM me if you want his number.
