Sucked. At least if you read the book. Its been a while since i read the book, but I literally cannot think of a single thing in the movie that was in the book. Completely different stories.

also, I noticed a couple of glaring errors early in the movie and I wasn't even looking.

I saw David morse, the actor, on the UN ship. And then 10 minutes later he appears in a completely different role.

also, they were 200 miles off the Atlantic coast on a carrier, take off in a c130, and then they're immediately in South Korea. Can a c130 make that trip without refueling (in a world that is shown to be nearly impossible to refuel in)? No.

Guess I'm too old, I can't even fathom the idea of spending money to go see a movie like that. Swarms of thousands of high-speed flesh eating zombies? Please. Brad Pitt must be broke or something.

I much prefer the slow zombies of the Walking Dead.

Seeing trailers with zombies attacking helicopters in some form of "human" tower...I just say, wtf. Pass.

We got about half way through the book during our road trip this week. My wife keeps yelling at me about anticipating that the movie will suck. This thread isn't giving me any hope. :(

This is my second time through the book, and I have forgotten just how great it is.

I appreciated it for what it was but it doesn't hold a candle to the book.

It's a good thing I'm illiterate, no fear of reading the book, that way the movie might be good to me!

This was by far the best review I've seen on the movie. Isn't exactly a strong endorsement.

Wife and I are going to see it Mon. I haven't read the book, either. We'll see. I'm generally a "wait for Netflix" type.

Saw it last night. I thought it was ok. Never read the book.

Finished the book a few months ago and will go see the movie, but not in any hurry. So you can believe the part about the living dead but not a c130 that can cross the pacific without refueling? It's a fictional move, if you can't over look a few things it most certainly will suck. I'll check back after I see it.

Not that a c130 can cross the Pacific, that it can fly non-stop from new york to south korea.

It just seemed like they had rewritten the story a few times on the fly and there were some things out of place/order. Ie south korea must have originally been intended for later in the film. I found i couldn't forget that it was a movie.

Gettin' better reviews on RottenTomatoes.com than Man of Steel, and I thought that was supposed to be the hit of the summer.

Haven't seen either.

Yea, they had to rewrite the ending because it "didn't work."

Went and saw it last evening with the wife. We both thought the ending was a little flat. Other than that it was ok.

Even though you guys are giving it a sub-par review, I'm a sucker for zombie movies so I'll probably go see it regardless of how bad it is. I will do myself a favor and pick up the book too. Always in for a good read as well.

I saw it yesterday thought it was good, I on the other hand don't read books so I'm not the kind of person to say "the book was better."

I read the book a couple of months ago. I had heard the movie was in the works. After reading the book I couldn't even imagine how they were going to pull it off. The book is basically a "historian" talking about his experiences interviewing people from the birth to the end of the Zombie War... It was like a series of "short stories". Also the book really was a social commentary... A very easy to understand one. The zombies were secondary to the social commentary.

From what I hear about the movie, its about the "writer" searching the world for a cure... I'll probably see it, just so I can say what a POS... So, basically Brad Pitt and his production company paid for the name "World War Z" to pull in the book people...

The Wife & I went and saw this yesterday; we both enjoyed it. I can't seem to focus real well on fast-moving 3D so some parts were just a blur, and we found the ending a little slow & obviously predictable. For $20 & a couple hours in the heat of the day, it was worth it.

I have no use for or desire to see Brad Pitt in another movie. What little I've seen on publicity shows a movie I don't want to waste the time on even on free TV.

It was decent. Zombies are my genre though. Almost as good as 28 days later. Ending does bite. If you have a looooong road trip planned, download "We're Alive" the podcast. That's a good zombie story, warning, it's still ongoing.

I hate these kinds of zombies, it's as if they didn't read the Zombie Survival Guide nor did they watch any of the original zombie films (aka: George A. Romero flicks).

I much prefer the slow zombies of every good zombie movie/tv show.
FTFY. What part of "walking dead" do producers and directors not understand anymore? Rotting corpses meandering about can't run... they can barely walk.

The movie is awesome you ninnies. Sheesh, did your caviar warm to room temperature while you scoured the ground for your monocle after it popped out?

Good, not great.
Book was different so in a way, it stands on it's own.
I think they went with super fast zombies since the walking dead had cornered the slow type in recent times. Gotta mix it up.

If you like good zombie books, "The Remaining" is a pretty good series. Just finished book 4 and there is more to come....I hate waiting.

We saw it. I was really underwhelmed. It was OK in terms of entertainment...but I left feeling very unsatisfied for some reason. Like when people say they eat Chinese food for dinner and they're hungry again right after. Just something missing.

Yea, if it would have been more like the book, where the war lasted some 10 years and no "cure" was found, then it would have been more to my liking. But to sell that to the masses would have been hard.

As was I. I barely made it to the end of it.
