View Full Version : Aurora IPSC
The Aurora Gun hosts IPSC/ISPSA matches on the first Sunday *and* the fourth Saturday of every month. Set-up begins around 6:45 and the match start time is 9:00. Plan on it wrapping up between 1:00 and 2:00. Four to five stages.
The matches are actually run by the same group of people at the same range, but are officially called two different names. PSAC, Practical Shooting Assn of Colorado and AGC, Another Gun Club.
http://ecouspsa.com/schedule.htm
If you have not competed in a USPSA/IPSC or IDPA match before you will need to attend a "Intro to IPSC class" as this is a lot different than a static shooting line and we have a ton of rules related to safety. Contact a match staff member to get signed up for it as they are *not* run before every match at this club.
Bring 200 rounds and you should have plenty left over.
Due to weather concerns, always check here and your email before heading to the range.

Yes, bring eye and ear protection.
If I have shot IDPA at Clear Creek and combat pistol at BRC before will I have to take the safety class? If I show up tomorrow with my IDPA card will I be able to shoot? I always tape and brass.

You will be good.
Eastern Colorado IPSC and Front Range IDPA have an agreement that our safety classes count for each other.

I've been shooting IDPA up at Clear Creek the last half year or so.
Will I be all right just showing up on Saturday?

You are most certainly welcome to come join the fun. The range commands are very similar and, by now, you should be very aware of safety issues.
What would be even better is if you could show up early to help with the setup. This way you can familiarize yourself with the type of stages that are put together in Aurora and ask questions prior to the match.
We'll see you on Saturday!
OK, I read...well skimmed through the USPSA rules. I have a few questions that I hope I can get answered here rather than attending the safety class. I am an FRIDPA member and RSO.
1. Holster requirements - I found nothing in the appendix E3 regarding IWB holsters and positions thereof. Mine typically rides about 3:30 - 4:30. IWB OK?
2. Is the AGC IPSC a bit relaxed on the official rules like the FRIDPA? - READ "Close enough" and no need to get my ammo/weapon crono'd before I shoot.
3. I will be shooting my new FNP .40. Sign up in Open (10 round mag loadouts - I only have 3) or Limited Major?
4. Any special rules that AGC has other than the typical cold range? I.E. - "Safe Direction" for reload and such is down range horizontal +/- 10* and the 180* left/right. (IDPA habits will force that anyways)
5. Discount on entry fee for assisting with setup/tear down?
6. As a non AGC and USPSA member, will I be allowed to shoot? (If yes, I may bring a buddy)
Anything else I need to know, or attend the safety meeting anyways.
I can assist as an RSO if needed, just will need a quick briefing on the particulars.
TIA!

1. IWB holsters are fine. As long as a holster holds the pistol securely and covers the trigger guard, it is legal.
2. Rules are rules. However, we do not chrono ammo at local matches. We take your word for it that you are meeting the power factor you declared.
3. Limited or Limited-10 will be just fine. Both scored as major. Or download it to 10 rounds and shoot production division. Basically SSP.
4. Nothing strange. Dont break the 180 and you are fine.
5. Usually the MD will hand you a $5 off card, but its not a for sure thing.
6. Yes, anyone can shoot a USPSA/IPSC match.
Remember, these matches are run under USPSA rules which are a touch different from IPSC (International) rules. In fact, you would be hard pressed to find a true IPSC match in the USA.

I was there. This was my first event. I am hooked. But I left early as well. Too cold. I should have prepared better for the cold like long johns, hand warmers, hot liquids, etc. I will better prepar next time.

do you guys think I would be able to complete a match with a stock glock 17, holster, mag pouch, and 3 mags? or should I hold off until I get more equipment? I think im cutting it tight with only 3, but if it is still possible to compete, I will.

you could shoot Limited Division and score minor..that way you could load up your mags and should be able to shoot any course of fire.
to shoot production..you would only need to get 2 or 3 more mags.
leatherneck448

limited minor. So that basically means that I can survive any course of fire with only 3 full 17rd mags, correct?
why does production require so many mags?

I have tried that a time or two.
But shooting IPSC with is revo is friggin hard. A whole match of DAO and doing it 6 rounds at a time just makes it a whole new game.

Is there going to be a new shooter orientation for this match?
Like always, new shooters need to contact the Match Director (Matt Hess) to coordinate new shooter classes before the match. Matt's contact information is on the ECOUSPSA website. Contact him tonight so he can try to get a training resource ready to do the class in the morning.

Good match this weekend! The third stage was a beast though. Whew. Glad to be back out there and see you all!
Due to snow and generally poor range conditions, I regret to inform you that tomorrow's match has been cancelled.
Winter in Colorado. Always check your email before you head to the range...
Thanks, didn't know about ECO USPSA Google Groups, I usually just checked this thread for updates.

AGC/PSAC match - Probably knew this was coming, we're canceling tomorrow's match at Aurora due to weather.

We were hoping to host the first match of spring with some nice weather, but it isn't going to happen. The high is going to barely break freezing, and a few inches of snow are also in the works. Hope to see everyone at the next one.

For those not using Google Groups, wanted to pass on we're canceling tomorrow's match at Aurora. We had standing water on the berms yesterday and additional rain today.
With the Rocky Mountain 300 this weekend, anyone know if Aurora is going to have a match on Sun?

Apologies for late notice. AGC match at Aurora is go!
Setup will start at 7 and the shooter's meeting will be at 9. As per usual Dawn will have breakfast burritos, so be sure to have an extra $5 on hand. Aurora will once again be holding elections so we will not be shooting from 11AM til noon.
Do breakfast burritos go over well at matches? My wife always wanted to make them.

They are my favorite part of Aurora matches.
The weather is looking pretty spectacular so come on out and shoot. Setup starts at 7 and the shooters meeting will be at 9. We have a time change so be careful to show up at the correct time. Dawn will once again have some delicious burritos for sale, so don't forget that extra $5
Tomorrow's match at Aurora is on and appears the weather gods have smiled on us.
We are implementing new hours over the fall/winter season. Setup will begin at 7:30 with shooter's meeting starting at 10:00.
No burritos tomorrow from Dawn Perez.
Please use the parking areas to the west of our sign up shed.

How swampy is the range?
Denver_AR

Well, not swampy at the moment as it's frozen!
Got a range report yesterday afternoon. Mostly dry with snow in a few spots. We think we can put on a match.
Probably not too much of a surprise, but we have cancelled this weekend's matches at Aurora.

Also, work kept me from shooting a match in probably 6 months and my USPSA membership has lapsed - is that a problem?
