A .224 Nosler Ballistic Tip Varmint 40 grain bullet hand loaded to 3247 FPS bench fired through a Remington 700 ADL Varmint chambered in .223 sighted through a Simmons Whitetail Classic Rifle Scope 6.5-20x 50mm from a distance of about 400 yards with an 8 mph east to west wind, on a target roughly the size of a beer can. Thanks to Steps for the invite, and to Kaiser.Shooter for spotting for me!

That was certainly a great shot. And the wind gusts were slightly higher than 8MPH!

I had a blast sitting back watching all of you take pop shots from 250-600+ yards, lol.

00Tec....Excuses.....

Thanks, and no not really. Plague, (if even present), would come from contact with siliva, blood, airbourne virus, or fleas. None of which contacted me or my gear. That, and the cause of death to any other varmints on scene was only by "lead poisoning", which also minimizes the likelihood. Now, had I made sushi out of the chubby little bastard like I was tempted to, that may be a different story...

Just joking with you. However, I am always wary of flees around prairie dog towns. We seem to get occasional cases of the plague down here around Colorado Springs - the ones I remember had to do with people walking or riding bikes within prairie dog towns and getting bitten by flees.

Funny story:
I shot prairie dogs just outside Schriever AFB between 1999 and 2003. The land we shot on was owned by the State and leased to a rancher, whom we received permission from to shoot the dogs. A couple of years later, Schriever AFB wanted to expand their boundary fence. Part of the new land included some prairie dog infested fields. Though Peterson AFB Public Health Group had tested the prairie dogs outside Schriever for plague for several years, they suddenly found evidence of the plague and therefore were authorized to eradicate them. Not all of them, just the ones within some distance of the new fence line.

I miss shooting on that property - the dogs were not very educated and would occasionally pop up within 100 yards. 55gr moly coated Hornady V-Max .223 was my preferred round for vaporizing the little varmints.

In the spring, when the young dumb ones are prevalent, were I shoot them we have had shots under 10 yards.

Hopefully they let ya shoot more than one of them. If they told you one was the "limit", they lied. Shoot'em all and don't stip shooting until ya can't see any more.

Agreed. I have no limit on my property at all.

I invite folks out, ask them to bring their drinks and food for the grill, BBQ for everyone, and charge one fee: Kill all the damm PDogs you can.

I fear for my horses with all the damn mounds everywhere, plus we have a blast!

Thanks again for coming out guys. I have a Texas trip coming up so I have to delay the next meet. Looks like Sunday July 28th is our next meet! I will send out PM's to everyone. 00Tec will be there for this one!

00Tec...I received a challenge from my cousin when we go to El Paso. Get this... "Largest explosion". You game?

Got $150 to burn before we go? Or does anyone have a source for a decent sized bag of ammonium nitrate to create some tannerite? I'll get the catalyst.
We could make another disposable cannon...

From what I hear, Buckaroo and steps like STRANGE favors. The you got the secret handshake, and a bit of trespassing....

Prairie dogs. Kind of reminds me I have a 7 mag in the back of the safe that I never shoot. Maybe I should dust it off and try my hand at whacking a few of them.

I'll give you a holler for the next one T, but you're always so damn busy. I don't think Steps allows drive-by shootings!

I am aware of Randy's weird "payment options". How do you think the guy sells so many guns so fast?

Depending on when it will coordinate with my swings schedule I'd be all in! Considering you posted this at 0449 hours this morning I'd say our schedules don't line up perfectly! I'd love to join you guys out there but I also don't have any of my hunting rifles up here currently. Just have my 15-22 but we should still have some fun.

Plus I haven't seen you since our last deal and that's unacceptable. Xbox is running great by the way!

I wish I did. I am still saving for the trip. I was hoping you might have enough on hand we can take, then I can pitch in on the next batch when I have the funds. Yes, and we could probably repair the last one and make it the best yet if we "try".

You are welcome to come out. I am trying to get a "group" together for these meets that consists of people we know, etc. I do know the next shoot is July 28th. With your hours though I am not sure that works for you.

20lb bag sitting here, but I thought you wanted a big pop...

Get your caliper out when you get home and get me the inner diameter of that pipe. I have an idea.

This is a great thread, keep it up guys. I've never tried my hand at pdog hunting before, I need to find someone who has property that needs clearing!
