Went out shooting new years day. I was using an SKS with a scope shooting 50 and 100 yards. Shooting Silver Bear I had a decent group at 100 yards and was dead on at 50 yards.

When I switched to Bulgarian surplus all accuracy went to crap. I shot something that I could call a group at 50 yards and something that looked like random shooting at 100 yards. Has anyone had similar experiences? What is the most accurate ammo for 7.62?

whatever your gun likes. without measurements like speed and dimensions and other factors all you can do is find the ammo your gun likes and then buy a bunch of it.

Now that said I have found the silver bear a little slower than surplus and wolf slower still. Also understand that wolf uses .308 bullets. I have not checked to see if I have a box of silver bear left to check. My reloads all use .310 bullets.

The SKS using a tilting bolt design can be very ammo sensitive to the powder charge and each one is different. Also, what kind of scope mount are you using? the top cover mounts are just about useless unless you lock it down using set screws and even then they can wander.

Just some thoughts.

I once chronoed several brands of ammo and was suprised to find extreme spreads over 200 fps for a couple of them. Hand loading improved ammo consistancy a lot but accuracy was only a little better so I suspect mecanical issues are the biggest facter in this type of weapon.
Affraid you'll just have to keep trying till you find one yours likes. I second the comments on SKS scope mounts. Good luck , t5hey can be a lot of fun to shoot!

Mine really likes Barnual. I use the nickel plated steel stuff so that I can use the same ammo in my AR-47. I have some PMC cases that I handload, but it's always nice to have some on hand already loaded.

I think the scope mount was part of the problem. I just ordered one with side bolts to hold it in place. Now I just need to find a shop with silver bear in stock.

I've had poor accuracy with Bear and Golden Tiger in all my SKS's and AK's. I usually look for surplus yugo that has been stored well. The yugo's use a hotter load. Had good luck with cz, russian, and romanian.
Have heard from numerous folks that polish ammo is good but haven't used it myself.

Yes, for sure check your scope. Very few sks scope mounts are worth a shit. I use a b-square cover mount, but I put a hex fastener through the front of the cover and into the receiver. After cleaning and reassembly it's always right back on zero.
